Been looking forward to this one. Got to try it at the 4th Anniversary some years back, but had a head cold at the time. Sample at the Jackie O’s pub (Brewery side) on 8/16/13. Clear brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of brett, malt, cherry and raspberry. Sweet cherry and malt flavor up front, then quickly turning to a funky and sour raspberry finish. A very unique beer because the cherries and raspberries hit the palate in completely different ways, giving two separate fruit accents vs. the proverbial fruit cocktail. Awesome stuff.

Vintage 2013 Bottle 59/400 Thanks Mark! Pours a brown coffee color with a solid quilt of tans. Smells of oak, cherry, touch of chocolate, maybe some raspberry musk. Decent nose. Flavor is richly cherry, some more dark chocolate, some more musk. There’s oak, some tannins and a nice tartness. A bit of umami in the flavor that gives depth to all the components. Medium on thin with moderately reserved carb and a dry finish. Good beer.

2013 bottle. Big thanks to DrSilverworm for this. Bottle 212/400, shared at Jeff’s. Clear mahogany color (very appropriate) with almost no head. Love the aroma. Raspberry jam, sour funk and barnyard, lemons, and wood. Taste brings out the cherries more to go with the raspberries. A touch of sweetness helps to counter the rather strong sourness. Just the perfect amount of barnyard in the finish. Cool beer and my kinda sour.

Tap sample. Poured a clear reddish brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good to excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour & tart fruit aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

22 oz. bottle from the brewpub. 2013 vintage. Bottle 313/400. Pours a clear mahogany color - appropriate - with a beige head. Notes of tart cherries and raspberries, sour mash, candy (Warheads), root beer, and oak. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a tart, fruity mouthfeel. I normally don’t go for sour browns but this one is very, very good.

Bottle: The aroma consists of raspberry, light roast, lemon, and coffee. It pours a dark brown with some orange transparency. It has a small beige head that quickly fades to a very thin ring. The flavor starts with a quick to of sour raspberry. There’s a touch of chocolate and roasted in the background. The finish has moderate sour lemon with a touch of roast. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Bottle: Thanks, Jason! Bottle #212 of 400. Deep mahogany body, true to its namesake with a slight, beige collar that forms slowly on top. Aroma has lots of jammy, sweet raspberry & puréed cherries with timid vinous notes of oak & grapes popping in & out. Underlying tactic tartness coming hand-in-hand with the fruit. Aroma has more raspberry than cherry, but the flavor flip-flops & cherry becomes the most prominent flavor. SOUR cherry notes, lighter tart raspberries with some mildly lactic lemon, wet oak, & a unique combo of silky smoothness & sharp snapping acidity in the finish, ending quite dry. This is a very nice sour from Jackie O’s... Too bad the bottle is so limited!

Growler at BCTC 2009: Deep ruby with an off white film of head. Tart aceto aroma with berryish fruitiness and a cherry pit brett character. Slick body and softly acetic flavor. Tart cherry notes mesh with a nice acetic/vinegar cleansing acidity. Rounded and well attenuated. Nice.
