2009 Bottle 15 of 156. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of bourbon, sweet chocolate, vanilla, oak and dark cherries. Finishes smooth with mostly sweet chocolate. I was told these bottles might be infected, but I didn’t notice anything amiss. Medium body.

Very dark brown beer - clear - just! Light tan head. Light palate, dry. Sourish dark malt. A little bourbon and dry wood. Basically a sourish porter with light barrelling and chocolate. A tad dry and slightly disappointing, Bottle 23/156.

Bottled. A red-brown beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of smoke, malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet withy notes of malt, fruit, and alcohol, leading to a dry finish.

Pours a dark chestnut brown, almost black color with slight mahogany edges and a half finger off-white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. Sweet vinous aroma with a strong red wine barrel presence. Earthy oak and dark fruit with subtle smokey malt. Hints of grape, raisin, plum and fig but not much smokey/roasted malt character. One dimensional and not very interesting smelling. Lighter bodied than expected with a very prominent vinous barrel character. Lots of red wine notes with hints of grape, cherry, raisin and plum. Little to no roasted malt with no smokey, toasted or chocolate notes to be found. Sour and sweet with lots of tannins and one dimensional flavor. This was a big disappointment from a good brewery.
