Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, malt, wood, and spices, leading to a dry finish. The combo doesn’t work for me.

Bottled. Golden coloured. Fluffy off white head. Aroma of vanilla, wood, sweetness, passion fruits, spice. Flavour of sweetness, herbs, flowers, wood, vanilla, grass. Medium to full bodied. Dry, grapy bitterness in the end. Quite nice.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of anders37. Bottle # 165/204. Pours a cloudy golden with an off-white head. Lovely aroma of Bourbon and citrusy hops. Juicy body, sweet fruitiness - actually the unusual blend of aroma hops and Bourbon comes out as very exotic fruits. Some licorice allsorts. Hoppy almost astringent finish. 290311

Bomber, thanks Ted. Hazy copper in color with a well-formed off-white head and good lacing. Hoppy, floral aroma with sweet malt, bourbon, and good oakiness. The malt flavor is very interesting with candy corn, which I personally like, caramel and brown sugar. Nice -bal notes with average level of bourbon and lots of floral flavors. Tasty. Medium-plus bodied with softer carbonation. Some tannins from the barrel. Good stuff. I really like it.

Bottle 196 of 204 provided by James, thanks jtclockwork. Poured a mostly clear yellow gold body off white head that leaves lots of lacing and light effervescence. Aroma of tons of grapefruit, barrel, dry citrus rind and a hint of bubblegum. Body is slightly fizzy and hot with a medium mouthfeel and some decent alcohol heat. Flavor is no where near the aroma with notes of dry citrus rinds, slight butter, vanilla, grass, earth. Interesting but not great.

Bottle 189/204 from stfun. Consumed on a cold/snowy night. Nice pour.. Creamy one finger head, glowing orange/red in color. Sweet nose of flowers, some vanilla and perfume.. Taste is nice as well. Vanilla beans, flowers, bubble gum, perfume notes, slight bitterness.. . Well balanced. Creamy smooth texture. Really easy to drink. The 8.5 alcohol isnt noticable at all. But as it warmed up the bourbon became more noticable. Overall: Very unique DIPA, I think its more of an american barleywine. The bourbon adds a great touch but doesnt dominate the flavor, well done Jackie O’s. Thanks Josh!

Bottle thanks to Stfun; shared at John’s tasting. Pours gold with white head. Nose of strong fresh pineapple, bubblegum, citrus, honey, barrel and caramel malt. Taste follows suit with the same flavor. Tiny hint of bourbon in the finish. Tasty brew.

Reviewed from notes at the 5th anniversary party. A- Body is a rich jewely amber hue that is served with a 1 finger or so creamy off-white head-this fades quickly and some lacing is left behind in the glass. Body is slightly translucent and completely uniform in color/light permeability. S- Nose is very sweet. Caramel, vanilla, oak, sweet bourbon, with a fair amount of white grapefruit and orange in the background. T- Flavor is quite complex and just as the nose suggests, very sweet. Caramel and oak seem to be the highlight upfront with citrus hop overtones. The finish is mostly barrel-with the oak and bourbon shining through-but a mild kick of pine comes in to remind you that this is a DIPA. A fairly intense alcohol heat lingers along with caramel sweetness, and the slightest hop bitterness. M- Low carbonation and a light to medium weight body. Smooth, creamy, and oily. Very well put together. D- This is my first review of a BA IPA (although I have tried others) and my verdict is still out on this style as a whole. That being said-this is a very good, well put together brew. It is definately on the sweet side of IPA land-and the hops are subdued rather than bright and in your face. In the end-the caramel and the mouthfeel sold me on this one. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 12-20-2010 15:37:09
