Thought I was pouring a stout at first! Thick caramel pour with medium viscous tan head. Amazing fruit and bourbon nose. Dried fruit combo of grapes/pears/figs/dates for the flavor followed by a brown sugar tart cherry pie finish. O jackie Ooooo . . .

Bottle purchased at the brewery in Athens. Another killer barrel aged offering from Jackie O’s. The pour was dark brown with aromas of bourbon and dark fruits. Flavors of bourbon, oak, vanilla and dark fruits are woven together in this deliciously complex beer.

Sample on pubside .. Pours a dark brown with thin tan head aroma is rich but clean Belgian and definitely some oak and bourbon. Flavor is a lot more bourbon than the aroma would suggest but there is a rich malt backbone to this that is roasty and then some Belgian yeast character and some alcohol warmth, some dark fruits plum. Overall I am really digging everything comin out of these bourbon barells and this one doesn’t disappoint.

Bottle thansk again to JSTAX ! Pours a deep umber mahogany color with a finger of eggshell foam. The nose has some great dark fruit, cherry, burnst sugar and traces of boozy bourbon and vanilla. The palate is velvety smooth with nice carbonation that draws out all the subtleties in the flavor. Nice ripe cherry cola, dank bourbon soaked wood, molasses, a touch of bitter walnut. Really easy drinker with just enough bourbon character to enhance the beer but not overpower the soft quad notes.

22oz bottle, from Jackie O’s a bit sweet, lots of big vanilla flavor and certainly an odd tasting quad, none of the raisin or plum or alcoholic burn associated just smooth sweet goodness.

Dogbrick (6014) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of earthy malt and bourbon. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, roasted nuts and bourbon. The finish is oaky with a dark fruit and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Tap sample. Poured a hazy dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate to dark sweet malt and small bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Improved sweet complex brew.

Dark brown pour with reddish tinges. Cream colored head. Figs, dates, vanilla, oak, raisins, sherry, honey roasted nuts, sweet bread...good stuff.

Small pour at the Jackie O’s 7th Anniversary Extravaganza. Pours a clear brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma of malt, Belgian esters (but light on the banana), and dark fruit. Malty flavor with bourbon, dark fruit and vanilla before a creamy finish.

Poured on draft at Jackie-O’s. Pours a translucent mahogany with a whispy white head of foam. Aroma is bourbon, wood, sweet malty, nutty. Taste is heavy booze, but the burn is left out. I like that.
