Bottle 66 of 72 thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a brown with some mahogany highlights topped with a small tan head. Aroma is of light smoke, peat, some caramel and chocolate sweetness. Taste is more of the peat, light smoke, some pit fruit, bourbon, vanilla, and a little oak. Another short run from Jackie-Os always fun to try super small batch stuff. Thanks again Toby

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2012 Bottle. Poured clear reddish brown color with a minimal frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy vanilla, cherry wood aroma. Medium body with smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a bourbon cherry sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Very enjoyable brew. Tap edit. 12/16/12.

A: Pours a dark brownish amber hue with a small tan head. No real retention or lace noted. S: Very earthy aromas. Mushrooms and black tea. Hints of peat and smoked malts. T: Nice candy sweet flavors with subtle smokey notes. Hints of dark fruit, bourbon, and hints of oak. M: Medium in body, pretty smooth and easy drinking. D: Not bad overall. Lots of good flavors they just dont mesh together real good.

22 oz. bottle; slight hiss and pours basically flat; dense reddish brown with sweet bourbon on the nose and little else; tin, flat texture with sugary rawness, bourbon and vanilla cookies; carbonation obviously impacting this as it leaked slightly during shipment; not sure if full carbonation would redeem this one though; strong, boozy and hard to find much remaining from the base beer

Bomber from the release party in December. This one pours a very dark brown color with a reddish hue and topped by a small, foamy tan colored head that settles quickly to a thin wash. The aroma is bourbon forward with notes of burnt caramel, chocolate malts, earthy peat, and a touch of smoke. There is some dark fruits and vanilla from the oak as well that add nice depth. The flavor follows suit with bourbon soaked dark fruits, peat, smoke, and a good dose of chocolate. The peat and bourbon really shine through with a just a touch of the sour mash. The chocolate and vanilla from the oak sweetne things up a bit and balances the flavor profile. This one didnt seem to be plagued by the sourness like some of the others I had. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate, and lengthy bourbon finish with a nice warming touch on the way down. Really nice scotch ale.

22 oz. bottle donated to the share table at Dark Lord Day 2010 by new beer friends from Ohio. Poured a dark brown with ruby highlights, a modest, off white/light tan head, and spots and streaks of lacing. The nose was malt and caramel, with bourbon presense, earthiness, a hint of smoke, and dark fruit sweetness. The flavor was similar notes, with a noticeable but average hop bitterness, more warming to the alcohol, some vinous nature, and all wrapped up in a full body. Very nice! The bottle, of course, didnt last too long.

Thanks to the giver JaBier for sharing a bottle (although not personalized like my Orange Oak). Pours a murky dark brown color with with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Bourbon aroma with notes of dark malts and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of bourbon, smoked malt and chocolate. Notes of earth as well. The finish is earthy malt and fruit. Pretty good overall.
