Drank at the barrel aged beer festival from a snifter, thanks to Brad for running next door to let us try this early...A watery light brown, lightly clear, not much carbonation at all...Seeing this was aged 14months I was super excited hoping to get tons of sweet vanilla notes, sadly that hasnít come through yet. Mostly a lot of wood not oak, and lots of alcohol. No sweet notes come through, the finish on the nose is a big time alcohol burn..The taste is pretty dead on the front, again none of the sweetness comes through, where is the vanilla? Mostly wood, alcohol, and there is a bit of tart finish...The feel is silky smooth and this is so easy to drink. The flavors are muted and you could literally crush a couple glasses of this really fast and at 12% youíd be in good shape. A good start for a ba bw, needs some tweaking but if the smoothness can stick around and add some sweetness of the bourbon, this could be really good.

On tap at Jackie oís.... Pours a medium caramel brown with a thin tan head... Bourbon forward aroma with wood accents, a fair bit of toffee and caramel... A little boozy upfront with softer caramel but not by much. Some slight tart fruit in the finish imparted by the barrel. Thin bodied with semi-prickly carbonation. 7/3/7/3/14

Had on tap at Jackie Oís Anniversary Party. Rarely do I meet a Barley WIne I do not like. Nice aroma of bourbon. Sweet flavors of cherries, some vanilla, and definitely some heat from liquor. I kicked off my tasting with this beer because I am just kinda crazy that way. Yum!

cheers markwise for the growler. Pours dark brown, thin beige head. Aroma is light bourbon, wooden oak with caramel. Flavor, insanely drinkable, wood, bourbon all over, caramel malts with hints of sweetness and fruits. Bourbon and wood added a nice subtle sweetness to the palate with lingering vanilla. Finishes smooth with hints of pepper/spice.

Growler courtesy of markwise, thanks! It pours amber murkiness creating an average level of opacity with copper edges and thin tan head. The aroma has a pretty good load of oak and lighter notes of vanilla and bourbon. I donít smell much in the way of beer in there. The taste is chewy goodness with notes of malts and a touch of roast before oak, a thin layer of vanilla, slick bourbony booze and more malts take this thing to the finish. To me it tastes and smells like it could have used a little less barrel time so the base beer isnít swamped out.

Growler courtesy of markwise. Pours a cola brown to black with thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of bourbon, caramel, toffee, molasses, rum-soaked raisins, ripe dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of bourbon, vanilla, wood, light smoke, some slight sour malt, ripe fruit esters. Generally medium body with a slightly boozy finish. Tasty.

Thanks to goryshkewych for this one in trade. Pours caramel brown with an off-white head. Nose is bourbon, caramel, raisin, brandy, and heat. Flavor is bourbony with barley wine flavors: brandy, raisins, and lots of heat. This one will burn nose hairs, but is surprisingly smooth in body and going down. Very enjoyable beer. Canít wait for the next one from Jackie Oís.
