This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. After a month of conditioning in stainless steel, the beer was transferred into bourbon barrels. For 8 months, Dark Apparition waited patiently in oak barrels until the time was right to spring forth with its ghostly gusto. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition ícause this ghost is a creeper.

Thanks Custy.Pours an inky black with one finger of dark tan head. Nose shows barrel and oak, sweet vanilla and chocolate with a nice caramelly bourbon character. Flavor is rich and bourbony, oak and vanilla with notes of chocolate and some caramel, viscous and warming palate. Nice

Bottle via a trade with goryshkewych. Pours with a big, black body with some dark brown bubbles. Completely glass coating. Aroma is heavenly. Bourbon, woody, brown sugar, boozy, cocoa, maple, flint, nutty and fusel alcohols. Taste is mocha, milk chocolate, bitter/tannic wood notes, bready, chocolate, and bourbon. Creamy mouthfeel, huge body, mouthcoating. Truly and excellent beer! I could use a LOT more of this!

Sample at Jackie Oís Barrel Aged Beer Fest 2010. Pours black with thin to medium brown head. Aroma is bourbon, coffee, vanilla, and toasted malts. Flavor is much the same as the aroma, with some alcohol warmth. Canít wait to try the bottles I have once they have some age on them!

Bottle shared by Brad and Art, thanks! Poured black with a brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a strong sweet bourbon note with dark grains, chocolate and a hint of licorice. Flavor began with sweet grains and dark chocolate. The bourbon balanced nicely.

On tap at Jackie Oís. Pours pitch black with thin tan head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, oak, dark roast, coffee, and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Flavors follow the nose and is very well balanced. Iím a barrel aged beer lover and this is a real treat. Perfect balance. Has a slight touch of heat to it. But very slight. Just a great brew.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2010 On tap at Jackie Oís. Viscous black pour with a whispy tan head. Aroma is chalked full of vanilla, bourbon, and roasted malts. Flavor follows suite. This is an excellent example of what a barrel aged beer should be

Old growler shared by kan, so probably not the best rating situation, so take this with a grain of salt. Pours a black with tiny tan bubbles that are gasping for life. Aroma is super nice. Bourbon, coffee, cocoa, smokey tobacco. super smooth. The fact that this is 12% abv is straight up unbelievable. I could have drank this all day. Kan says this was better with more life in it, and I can definitely see that potential, but itís pretty damn good right now. Would like to try this again. Thanks Kan!
