COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. After a month of conditioning in stainless steel, the beer was transferred into bourbon barrels. For 8 months, Dark Apparition waited patiently in oak barrels until the time was right to spring forth with its ghostly gusto. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition ’cause this ghost is a creeper.

Believe the hype. This is a very real beer. And one I went back repeatedly to at te gabf. One of the best beers served there easily. Very dark. Dark roasted chocolate. Light vanilla. Fudgey texture. Subtle wood flavors.

Growler courtesy of markwise, thanks! It pours deep darkness with wafer thin off white head. The aroma is oak, vanilla, some chocolate brownie and a touch of roasty to burnt malts. The taste is thick tasty chocolate fudge like brownie to go along with vanilla, a modest level of oak and bourbon. It ends toward more vanilla along with lingering bourbon and chocolate. Very tasty stuff.

big thanks to Kan for sharing this growler that didn’t last long. it poured black with a small tan head. a pleasant aroma of smoke, coffee and raisins. the flavor was smokey, chocolate, raisins, and oak. the bourbon really came off scotchy for me which was very interesting and not overdone at all. a nice rich and smooth brew. awesome.

Growler kindly shared by Jason. The beer pours to a deep brown/black body with a tan head. The aroma is sweet milk chocolate, marshmallows, vanilla, and molasses. The flavor is charred malt and dark chocolate with some molasses and light bourbon wood. The palate is sweet but not sticky. Medium-full body. Quite a nice beer.

Growler from goryshkewych, huge thanks George. Rating #19. Super dark with a red tint on top, had a nice chocolaty brown head. Aroma is amazing, bourbon, chocolate, a little woody as well with a slight roastiness to it. Much more roast in the flavor, a hint of the barrel as well, very rich and very sticky with a little alcohol burn in the back of the throat in the finish, outstanding. 񡹯)

Many thanks to Dan for sending a growler my way! Poured very deep brown with a thick, easily-resuscitated cap of tan head.. redder highlights. I got a huge dose of baker’s and sweeter chocolates on the first impression, with the barrel coming not far afterward.. toasty hazelnuts and coffee played well against charred oak, sweet bourbon, and vanilla.. deep and malty overall with just the right amount of barrel. The flavor opened with tangy oak and mighty tasty bourbon, with rich, cake-like malts trailing (similar chocolates, coffee, and nutty notes as the nose, along with a hit of tar).. vanilla, bourbon, and earthy hoppage around.. finished warm and, paraphrasing Eric, like someone spiked a tasty pie. Heavily-bodied with light, tight carbonation on the palate.. the barrel was near-perfectly integrated.. lengthy finish carried tangy bourbon and the warm malts. Most excellent stuff!

Growler courtesy of markwise. Pours a dark chocolate brown to blackk with thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of bourbon, chocolate, light roast, toffee, caramel, ripe dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee, caramel. Medium to full body with a pleasing boozy malt finish. Nice ale.

Thanks to goryshkewych for the share. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, roast, heat, and love. Flavor is very deep: bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, heat, and power. This is a medium-bodied lovable beer, and definitely love erupting from the growler. Outstanding!

Growler… This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. The aroma is an arrogant swirl of chocolate, bourbon, wood, leather and vanilla with a hefty blast of ethanol. Full-bodied with an astringent mouthfeel and dancing carbonation. The flavor is all about sweet dark-chocolate, tangy bourbon and vanilla with ethanol and carbon bitterness. Finishes like Chocolate Silk Pie with boozy warmth carrying up the rear. Thanks to darkguardian for sharing this world class brew with the folks down at Coffee District in Delray Beach!

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2010 Growler sent my way from goryshkewych. Pours deep black with a big tan head. Nose is huge wood, deep dark chocolate and massive bourbon. Flavor is intensely roasty with big massive chocolate and molasses notes. A little brown sugar, super smooth from the barrel and really assertive (perhaps a little to much so) bourbon. This is amazingly done but this would be a top ten beer if the bourbon was a tad less in your face. Amazing nonetheless though.
