This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. After a month of conditioning in stainless steel, the beer was transferred into bourbon barrels. For 8 months, Dark Apparition waited patiently in oak barrels until the time was right to spring forth with its ghostly gusto. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition cause this ghost is a creeper.

>> Dark pour with blood ruby highlights. Lower foam with good retention. Aroma is just silly: orange dark chocolate ball, smoke, buttery rich bourbon, chocolate mousse, cocoa powder, savory. Very rich taste with a shooter like medium hot finish. No fusel white alcohol. Bitter cocoa, rum, and bourbon, brown alcohol warmth. A powerful beer, rich and drinkable with no white alcohol character. Palate is rich, oily, ultra silky. So good.

37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are bourbon, wood, vanilla, dark fruits, and chocolate - with a bitter and slightly alcoholic finish.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, wood, coffee, caramel and licorice notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with bitter notes and alcohol. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Imby.

Roast, good thick texture. Black pour. Lots of barrel in this. Finishes boozy with some sweetness. Caramel and alcohol. Thanks to gendv138 for sharing this.

375ml bottle pours an inky black with some ringing, brown head. Nose has a lot of roast and toast, mild booze, bready, molasses. Flavor is sweeter, molasses, licorice, black pepper, caramel. Finishes a little hot and lightly peppery.

Black colored pour. Small ring of tan bubbles. Not much lacing. Sour aroma of spoiled vegetables and a slight chocolate. Taste is chalky chocolate and the faintest hint of bourbon. Finishes good despite the aforementioned problems.

Soil and manure aroma, very earthy. Mahogany, thin tan head. Tobacco and prune flavor. Unique, but not really something I enjoy.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2014 Bottle. Black with a medium sized diminishing light brown head. Lots of bourbon vanilla/coconut, cocoa, wet wood, brown sugar, light herbal/green hops. Full body, oily/sticky texture, soft carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Good, but the tannins from the barrel makes it a bit rough compared to the original.

Bottle, thanks to Drake. Deep brown with a tight tan head. Prune and banana, huge bourbon, plenty of wood. Taste is quite hot. Huge bourbon, brownies, cocoa and red grapes. Big, fat body. Oily. Nice.
