Bottle thanks to Brandon. Aroma is huge burnt caramel, butterscotch and light peanut butter. Tastes very good. Just like the aroma suggests. Brown sugar, caramel, peanuts. Liquid candy.

Draft in a sampler glass on the Public House side at Jackie-Os. Pours a hazy amber-hued brown with a beige ring for a head. Whoa, this one doesnt hide the roasted nuts whatsoever, as they are big and candied and roasted and explode in the aroma and flavor, backed by dark and dried fruits, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and cake. Comes together like a nutty caramel cake, really. Medium-bodied, with a malty, sugary, super sweet mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. On the wrong day, this would be cloying to me. But the day I had it, it was just the right thing in a small dose.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2016 Sample on tap at Jackie-Os 7th. Had this twice, the first time quite buzzed towards the end of the night, the second time the morning after. I dont remember the board saying anything about bourbon barrel aging, but I had it at the same time and place as all the raters below, so Im assuming this is the correct entry. Notes from my first sample: Less black color than the stouts I had in this flight, more of a nutty brown color. Pretty much no head or lace. Oh my goodnuts. Big nutty earthy hoppy barleywine aroma. Who would have thought a barleywine would work this well with roasty nuts? Good chewy texture, medium / big body, dry, good light carbonation. Good big bitter taste, noticeable alcohol content, but it works well with the aroma. Awesome, interesting beer 8 / 3 / 8 / 4 / 16 ... Notes from my second sample, the morning after: Dark brown color. Wow, very nutty flavor. Kind of boozy and bitter taste. Bigger body, dry texture, light carbonation. Good bitter, boozy taste. 9 / 3 / 7 / 4 / 16

Update, 3/21/16: 12.7oz bottle, picked up last week from the brewery. I also had a glass on tap while I was there, and though I thoroughly enjoyed it, I didnt take notes at the time. Awesome big nutty, toasty, malty flavor. Good big amount of bourbon character works well with the base. Notes are noticeable and a very pleasant addition, but not I dont think as massive in this batch as they were the first time I had this beer on tap. A real treat overall. Kind of like pecan pie. Im going to be tempted to buy more bottles when I return to Athens again this weekend.

Draft samples during the 7th Anniversary party. Pours brown with very little head. The aroma is caramel malt, nutty, bourbon, vanilla and oak. The flavor is a wonderful blend of sweet caramel, fresh nuts, bourbon, vanilla, wood and light cherry notes. This was the beer of the weekend for me. Great nose, flavor, mouth feel. I wish I had more of this.

Draft sample. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy nuts, dark sweet and small bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex dark sweet nutty flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet bourbon finish of moderate to long duration. This is an improved standout brew.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a dark brown color with a minimal tan head that diminishes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is nutty with notes of bourbon and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of honey roasted nuts, dark malts and oaky bourbon. The finish is sweet and malty with a lingering bourbon aftertaste. Very good beer overall.

Small pour at the Jackie Os 7th Anniversary Extravaganza. Brown in color with no head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, marshmallow and bourbon. Malty and nutty flavor with some bourbon and slight grassy hop before a boozy finish.

Poured on draft into a snifter. Pours a dark brown with little head. The aroma is rich malts and nice nutty notes. The added nuts reallymake this beer awesome. Taste is sweet, but not cloying and has lots of nutty personality.
