Staff Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted nuts, candy sugar and bourbon alcohol aroma. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Heavy bourbon sweet roasted black malt flavor with a heavy sweet and small bourbon alcohol bite finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Draft pour at the source. Pours a dark, opaque black with a beige head of foam. The aroma has spice, booze, chocolate, nuts, caramel, toffee. Taste is boozy and sweet. Awesome caram and toffee sweetness. Thick mouthfeel and body. Low to medium carbonation. Delicious stuff, for sure.

Sample from 2012 bottle #324/348 at the Jackie Os / food paring on 02/16/2013: Pours brownish-black with a minimal off-white head that disappears to a sparse outer ring quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, bourbon and nuts. Full-bodied with flavors of bourbon, chocolate malt and roasted nuts. The finish is mildly boozy with a malty and nutty aftertaste. Good beer all around.

22 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours black in color with a medium sizedfine beige head. The aroma has roasted malts, chocolate, some black walnut nutty character, wood, bourbon and vanilla. The flavor has much of the same and shows a nice integration of flavors. Some tannin character from the wood shows. Reports of infection were not noticed. In fact, this was very good.

2015 bottle. Dark brown with a very small creamy head that fades to a thin ring. Aroma is awesome. Big sweet toffee, caramel, and bourbon. Nice nuttiness too. Tastes great too. Actually reminds me of bourbon county barley wine a bit. Big sweet, smooth bourbon with so much caramel and toffee. Liquid candy. Little bit of chocolate and nuts too. Medium body. Love this.

2015 bottle, 375ml. Courtesy of BroAdvocate trade. Holy hell the nose on this one rocks. You can literally smell the walnuts and bourbon with a light fudge or brownie character underneath. I want this in a candle. pitch black pour with a small to medium light brown head. Taste is like a german chocolate cake without the nasty coconut part. Moderately bitter, with some smooth alcohol warming in the ears as it finishes. This is truly a decadent beer. After a few sips, the alcohol becomes a little overpowering in the warmth, but manages to stay smooth and never hot. Just a tad hot for a night when it is nearly 80F outside in spring. I know Jackie Os has had some consistency problems with their barrel aged beers in the past, but this one knocks it out of the park. Strike that. This beer sucks. Please send me your bottles for proper disposal.

Bottle shared by a friend in the hotel after night 1 of the Jackie Os 7th Anniversary Extravaganza. Pitch black pour with a thick tan head. Malty and chocolatey nose with bourbon and roast notes. Malty and roasty flavor with some chocolate and coffee and a bit of tartness in the finish. I have to give the nod to the Rum Barrel version, but this is pretty nice too.

Blue-waxed bomber to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks good; a viscous black with beige lacing. Smells and tastes of malt and bourbon. Nice and slick on the palate. Good stuff!

bottle courtesy of MikeTD/John, Its tough to discern this, as the base beer rocks and its barrel treatments are all great, but not as great as the base? perhaps. the bourbon lingers here and allows more of the sweetness to come through quite good.
