2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bomber shared with Mattyb83, pours murky brown/amber with no head. Aroma is a weird acidic, tart, bourbon funk, caramel, and toffee. Bourbon isnít overpowering but there really isnít anything to over power here. Some nutty caramel flavors, some fruits, and booze.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bomber shared with mattyb83 and atom. Pours a somewhat oxidized looking dark amber with some more light brown highlights. Aroma of some grain, crystal malt, brandy, wet wood, and some strange acidity that I canít put my finger on. Just huge wood and brandy notes in the flavor. Theres some sort of mango or tropical fruit notes intertwined that are overwhelmed by the wood. Interesting, but not crazy about it.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
My first Jackie-O. The aroma had the brandy. Sour, cherryish, astringent, medicinal. Overcarbonated. Grows on me, so drinkable. Decent beer, but overall disappointing.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle... Hazy burnt-orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma offers up caramel, earthy wood, praline, lactic acid and some odd funk that I canít quite place. Full-bodied and silky with low carbonation. In the flavor, tangy lactic acid notes overrun the malty goodness that once was. Thereís only trace bitterness here. Finishes tangy and a touch dry. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to GatorGuy92 for the share. Pours a hazy brown with a white head. Nose is brandy, caramel, some raisins, and a hint of booze. Flavor is similar with the brandy and the barrel fighting at first and making friends at the end. The brandy comes forward in an interesting way to play with the malt and caramel of the amber. Interesting sipper with a hint of booze.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of brandy, roast, cherries, caramel malts, smoke, vanilla, wood, and alcohol. Taste of roast, charred barrel, brandy, wood, some vanilla, sweeter dark cherry, tobacco, and sharp alcohol in the finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2012 Bottle shared by smokepot23. Pours with a hazed amber hued body with a small off-white head. Aromas of caramel, brandy, alcohol, barrel, fruity and lightly bready. Flavors have a discernible tartness to them. Brandy, bready and caramel notes otherwise with some currants and other fruitiness. Medium to low carbonation. Seems a bit thin.
Re-rate: Bottle thanks to GRG1313. Numbers are the same. Clear orangey hue with minimal head. Aromas of plums, brown sugar, malty, caramel and currant. Flavors are marmalade, brown sugar, maple, mild citrus. Medium to carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had this at the August 27th bottle release. 4 oz from a tasting snifter.
4.0 A: Deeply hazed amber brown color. Came without a head.
4.5 S: Lots of caramel and tons of vanilla. Brandy is all over this. A touch of butter. Quite nice.
4.5 T: Again lots of caramel with vanilla out the wazoo. Brandy is plentiful again. A touch of butter again.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess.
4.0 D: Very tasty beer. All this time, brewers have been putting imperial stouts in brandy barrels (which I never understood), but have been leaving their ambers to fend for themselves. Amber + brandy barrel = where itís at.

Sample at the brewpub on 8/26/11. Red pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of caramel, booze, oak and vanilla. Caramelly malt flavor with vanilla, brandy and apple with a bit of tartness in the finish.
