3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2012 Bottle shared by smokepot23. Pours with a hazed amber hued body with a small off-white head. Aromas of caramel, brandy, alcohol, barrel, fruity and lightly bready. Flavors have a discernible tartness to them. Brandy, bready and caramel notes otherwise with some currants and other fruitiness. Medium to low carbonation. Seems a bit thin.
Re-rate: Bottle thanks to GRG1313. Numbers are the same. Clear orangey hue with minimal head. Aromas of plums, brown sugar, malty, caramel and currant. Flavors are marmalade, brown sugar, maple, mild citrus. Medium to carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had this at the August 27th bottle release. 4 oz from a tasting snifter.
4.0 A: Deeply hazed amber brown color. Came without a head.
4.5 S: Lots of caramel and tons of vanilla. Brandy is all over this. A touch of butter. Quite nice.
4.5 T: Again lots of caramel with vanilla out the wazoo. Brandy is plentiful again. A touch of butter again.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess.
4.0 D: Very tasty beer. All this time, brewers have been putting imperial stouts in brandy barrels (which I never understood), but have been leaving their ambers to fend for themselves. Amber + brandy barrel = where itís at.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap sample. Poured dark hazy brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex earthy hop and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy same hop and woody bittersweet flavor with a solid bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On draft. Appearance is a murky brown with a thin, quickly diminishing head of khaki foam. Aroma is boozy with touches of malt alt and caramel. An earthy, leathery aroma is present as well. Taste is boozy, brandy in particular, with a caramel middle and an abrupt finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the Jackie Oís Bottle Sale on 08/27/2011. Murky brownish-amber color with a thin and compact off-white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Boozy aroma with some phenols and malt. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, brandy and touches of tart fruit. The finish is sweet malt at first and leaves a tinge of astringent alcohol behind. A little disjointed overall.
