COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the elusive spider, this beer has been waiting patiently for the past 22 months to spring forth and show its fangs! What started off as an unassuming English-style mild ale was transformed in oak barrels with the help of some wild yeast, bacteria, and time. For 19 months, this little brown ale rested in barrels, accumulating layers of complexity with each season that passed. When the time came to blend the barrels, a gallon of local Sticky Pete’s maple syrup was added. For an additional 3 months the wild yeast and bacteria gorged themselves on the sugar-rich maple syrup. The result is a delightful beer with a surprising tart bite. Enjoy now, or store in a cool dark corner and allow reclusiveness to further this beer’s mystique.

Bottle, shared by ucusty in the Phish parking lot pre-show. Love drinking sours in the lot before shows. Its become a tradition of sorts. Thanks Todd and Dave for complying so nicely. This was very sour and delicious. I didn’t take any notes, but I do remember that I didn’t taste much maple. Tasted like a sour brown and one of the better sours I’ve had from Jackie O’s.

On tap at Avery Sour Fest poured a hazy brown with a lingeing ring of tan foam. Aromas of maple, carmel, light barnyard, light leather and light spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of barnyard, leather, light maple and light carmel with a crisp dry lingering tart funky finish.

Tap @ Boulder SourFest. Brown appearance with a small tan head. Slightly boozy, sweet syrupy, slightly boozy, caramel malty nose. Pretty sour, caramel malty flavor. Good but not special.

22 oz bottle shared by Kan. Thanks! Pours a deep dark brownish pour, near opaque, the edges open up a bit to a brughter touch of mahogany brown with a small brownish tan head, dies to a tiny head, laces very small. Aromas are a plethora of flavors with sour acidity, touches of funky brett, sweet vanilla and wet oak pair with maple syrup sweetness and some caramel and toffee. As it warms, good lemons, cherries, and cranberries. Sour pugency grows. Initial is lighter bodied preaching a moderate acidity, sour cherries, lemons, cranberries with some lactic acidity, touches of vinegar. Really grows with a solid sourness, touches of sweeter syrup but it seems most of that sweetness was eaten by the bugs. Into the backend, throws a good acidity, touches of red wine vinegar, sour cherries. Touches of cranberries, raisins, the sourness grows in a wave. Finish leaves a good sourness, touches of sweet malts. Really nice. Good job, Brad.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Clear, dark brown ale with a small, creamy, white head. The bouquet offers cocoa, red wine, dark cherries and mild oak. Medium to full-bodied and creamy with gentle carbonation. The flavor is of black cherries, sour cherries, light chocolate, mild nuttiness and oaken acidity. Tart, tongue-numbing finish that dries way out. Many thanks to darkguardian for sharing this world class bottle of beer!

Bottle. Poured into a DT tulip glass a light tan color with minimal head. Solid aroma of cherry, oak, and slight vanilla. Light mouthfeel. Cherry, slight acetone, oaky, and some minimal vanilla. Really nice and sour but not overly so. Clean. Ends with a slight dryness. The fruit flavors are really nice.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear reddish brown color with a minimal fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy sour tart fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

A-pours a muddy brown with a thin light tan head. S-the nose is heavy dry oak, almost sawdusty, a decent sour cherry with notes of dark plums. T-still a fair bit of oak but the fruit flavors are slightly muffled. lots of sour cherries and some dry leathery brett behind. M-light body, highly carbonated, grainy on the palate with a fairly dry crisp finish. D-decent sour, lots of oak to it and the flavor becomes somewhat blurred as the brett is slightly overpowering and has eaten too much of the flavors.
