3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2011 22 oz. bottle 128/384 via trade with Tripphop (BA) - Pours a dark brown color with a 3/4 finger thick tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is slight tart cherries, hints of chocolate, and light oak. Very nice. And then I tasted it. I just donít get this tart/sour craze. The flavor is much like the aroma but, just a little more tart. The dark malt and tart cherries really linger in the finish. Medium to full body. A nice beer. Thanks Tripp.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by Darren at Belmont. Very dark in color with a tan head. Aroma is malty and sweet with hits of fruits. Flavor is an interesting mixture of sweet/sour fruits with some roasted malts, and oak. The fruity and tart flavors seem to override that of the base porter, however the porter adds a bit more body a and soft texture. Awesome integration of the cherries and cab barrels. Some people might not like a ďtart porterĒ but this is really unique and very well crafted. I would love to get a bottle of this to drink myself.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Jackie Oís rare barrel aged blah blah, Iím getting tired of these beers. That said, sometimes theyíre good. This one? Pretty good. 22oz bottle shared at a tasting. Very dark brown in color, near jet black, with a small tan head on top. The aroma is good and complex, with your standard imperial stout notes - on the chocolatey side more than the roasty - with oakiness and dark fruits. The flavor is very complex and I like it a lot. Smooth dark/milk chocolate, mild roast, oak, vanilla, red wine, and sweet and tart cherries. Lots going on with this one. Fuller on the body and silky-smooth on the mouthfeel with fairly low carbonation. This is pretty legit, but in the big scheme of things, Jackie Oís needs to slow their roll a bit.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a tulip. 2011 vintage, bottle #104 of 384.
3.5 A: Dark brown, almost black color. Two fingers of light brown head that fizzes away a bit faster than Iíd like and doesnít do much in terms of lacing.
4.0 S: The cherry isnít as intense as I remember at the release. I guess that happens with time, but I didnít think it would happen so soon. That isnít to say there isnít any cherry and what is there works well with the cabernet barrel to off a delightful vinous character. Overall, this is quite fruity from the actual fruit, the barrel, and the lactic tanginess. Iím picking up berries and in particular raspberries. Good balance between sweet and tart. Lightly funky and moderately tart/sour. Vanilla, oak, toasted malts, a touch of chocolate and maybe a hint of tannic astringency. Finally, this is teeming with that JOís house character.
4.0 T: Oak and vanilla are among the strongest flavors this time. Cherry again is a little lighter than I would prefer, though still tasty. The cabernet barrel again works wonderful in the taste as well. Vinous grape, cherry, and raspberry form a triumvirate of fruitiness. This wild ale is surprisingly tame on the acid front. Acetic acid is nowhere to be found, while lactic acid comes off as more fruity than anything. Again, a light funk. The porter comes through more in the taste. Toastiness with a considerable chocolate component.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Incredibly smooth. A light creaminess, but I would prefer some more.
4.5 D: Another solid offering. I considered giving 4.5ís to some other scores, so I figured this is a good place to split the difference. Very flavorful and easy to drink.
Some day Iíll post my on-tap review from the release.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to goryshkewych for this one. Pours a porter brown with an off-white head. Nose is citrus/ pineapple brett, tart cherries, vinegar, and some chocolate. Flavor is bretty up front, into the mid giving way to some tart cherries, and a bit of chocolate. Finish lingers with brett and a bit of chocolate trying to break through. Body is light to medium and complex. This one gets more complex as it warms. The brett seems to dominate more when the beer is colder. Once it warms up some, more nuances emerge. Another great one, Brad!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on Dark Lord Day from a bottle. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head that recedes rather quickly to nothing more than a very thin collar of lace. The nose is sour, funky, natural cherry with more roasted notes of coffee, chocolate, and oak. The flavor is sour, funky, and natural cherries with the same roasted coffee, chocolate, and oak that I detected on the nose. The body is medium with a very oily texture, lively carbonation and a long roasted coffee and oak, along with the funky cherry flavor.
