The character pictured on the front of this label is Jonathan Holmberg. Jonathan has been a bartender at what now is Jackie Os for the past 15 years. In 2004 he helped me get my foot in the door and has been a dear friend ever since. Jonathan is a true eccentric and this beer is nothing short of that. Our robust porter was placed into Cabernet barrels eight months ago. Wild yeast and Lactobacillus were added to the barrels to give the beer a tart edge and some very rustic and fruity qualities. Sixty pounds of tart cherries were added to each barrel to take this beer in a unique direction. Notes of cherries, oak, chocolate, wine, and leather all find a special spot in this brew. Cab Cherry Man is a beer that can stand up to the antiquing, joking, halloween-loving, and sweet personality that is Jonathans. Cheers, buddy! -Brad Clark, brewer

Interesting beer but it suffers from a thin feel. The beer has a good aroma - cherries, wine, chocolate, roast. Feel was oddly watery and it really washed out the flavor. I dont quite know what Im reacting, but recently, Ive had a few barrel-aged beers that seem to have really thinned out in the barrel.

bottle at RBWG, pours brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is sour cherry and port wine. Flavor is very roasty with cherry juice and a wood note that is akin to coconut skins. Interesting beer.

Bottled 11/22/2009...#80/156...thanks JohnGalt1!!! - Pours dk and clear brown with a tiny ring of beige head...aroma is chemically cherry, lt roast and some cocoa...flavour is similar, although incredibly thin, sour, old fruit, cocoa, lightly sour finish...this one was a bit of a disappointment...

Bomber from the brewery during the Anniversary party. This one pours a really dark crimson red color topped by a small, beige colored head of foam. The aroma shows plenty of tart, vinous cherries, carbernet grapes, some dark cocoa, roast and hints of vanilla and toasted oak. The flavor follows and is focused around the tart, juicy cherries and vinous grapes followed by some roasted cocoa, vanilla, and earthy wood. The barrel adds just the right amount of acetic character to balance out the roast. Medium bodied, slightly dry with balanced carbonation that leads to a crisp, tart cherry finish. I really like the sourness in this one. Probably my favorite of the bottled stuff thus far from Jackie Os.

Bottle shared by JCB. Cheers, Jason. I really dug this beer. Pours dark brown with decent beige head. Nose is big-time cherries. Nice and real and not too sweet or cloying. Dark roasted malts here, but the cherry is still there, and still tart. Somewhere in the land of sour porter/oud bruin. Good mouthfeel; slightly chalky. Loved it.

Bottle. Pours reddish black with small head. Aroma and flavor very Flemish In nature. Smells like chocolate covered dark cherry funk with light herbal qualities. Flavor of sour cherries, cabarnet, vinegar, must, and light chocolate. Flavor is very similar to a Flemish or lambic as well. Quite interesting

Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with an off white head. Malty body with chocolate and caramel malt tones. A modest warming with a large sweet cherry tone and some light oak. A mild tartness with a vinous and oak warming. Nice.

Thanks to Brad at Jackie Os and Schroppfy for sharing the growler!
Light sepia, thin cream head. Nose is a harmonious blend wine-rounded porter (mainly wood and light chocolate). Flavor is sweeter thanks to the heavy cherry presence and lack of roast bitterness, still lightly tart but with more chocolate malt, particularly in the fudge finish. Very chewy body. This worked really well as one beer, I think the wine barrel edged the roast off a bit, and several people agreed that this reminded them of KRE. Id agree, certainly that it is more a dessert beer, less complex, and yet less harsh than Captain Lawrences SFTO Wine.

This was really nice. Big, sweet (in red candy sort of way) and tart cherry with some nice roastiness from the porter. I love this pairing, and the couple beers I have had like this always seem to like me. Thanks for sharing Jason.

Bomber from StFun - thanks, Josh!!! Very quirky and distinctive beer here. Nice deep brown pour, with some crisp carbonation. Crazy cherry in the nose, full bodied and ripe. Soft toasted malts are in there, no doubt, but the nose gives the sense that this is halfway to an oud bruin or some brett-spiked porter (the latter quality perhaps coming from the cab barrel). Smooth but not overly slick mouthfeel, the hints of dark fruit and tartness suggest a nice Baltic porter too - Im calling it a Baltic oud bruin. Nice!
