3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, sampled at Sante Adairius – reviewed from notes. Aroma is what I would expect from a “strong saison” – heavy yeast, clove, peppery, slight cardamom even, light must, some white wine and light citrus. Without knowing this was a peach beer it would be pretty hard to point out from the aroma alone. Pours a lightly hazy golden color with spotty foam onto of the liquid. There are some sheets of lace as it is swirled around. Taste is very yeast heavy with lots of pepper spice, white wine level of dryness and some funk. Light peach note that makes the beer a little sweet before it totally dries out. Medium body and pretty high carbonation. Not much lactic quality or fruit flavor, but I guess it’s not a complete miss for a Saison. I enjoy the wine character and the dry finish, but as a peach beer I would say it’s not very fruit forward.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My Bottom Line:
Hay, juicy fruit and tartness converge in this lean and highly personable concoction.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the cloudy orange.
-Peaches and Cabernet barrel are beautifully cohesive from nose to finish.
-Carbonation could have been a tad more intense for my tastes, but the mouthfeel was still nicely slender.
-Drinkability was very high for such a strong brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster on tap at Jackie-O’s during their 8th Anniversary, on the brewpub side. Mostly clear orange color. Minimal off-white head, only loose bits of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, kind of dry finish. Good texture. Nice light tart funky citrus, and some nice peachy fruit juice in the finish. Moderate tart, light spiciness. Maybe a hint of heat in the finish. Enjoyable, complex sour saison.

On tap at Jackie O’s during the 8th Anniversary celebration on 12/13/13. Clear amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma of malt, funk, white wine, peaches and some sourness. Cracker malt flavor quickly giving way to peach before a funky and tart white wine finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Jackie o’s anniversary. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head that doesn’t last. The aroma and flavor have tart citrus and peach notes, mild funk, lactic sour, wood, mild influence from the Chardonnay barrel, a hint of sweet malts, lightly toasted. Actually the barrel gets more prominent as I kept drinking.
