COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The character pictured on the front of this label is Jonathan Holmberg. Jonathan has been a bartender at what now is Jackie O’s for the past 15 years. In 2004 he helped me get my foot in the door and has been a dear friend ever since. Jonathan is a true eccentric and this beer is nothing short of that. Our robust porter was placed into Cabernet barrels eight months ago. Wild yeast and Lactobacillus were added to the barrels to give the beer a tart edge and some very rustic and fruity qualities. Sixty pounds of tart cherries were added to each barrel to take this beer in a unique direction. Notes of cherries, oak, chocolate, wine, and leather all find a special spot in this brew. Cab Cherry Man is a beer that can stand up to the antiquing, joking, halloween-loving, and sweet personality that is Jonathan’s. Cheers, buddy! -Brad Clark, brewer

A: The pour is a dark mahogany color with plenty of red highlights and a thin tan colored head. S: A definite cherry aroma to this. Plenty of sweet, dark cherries with just enough tartness to let you know it’s there. There’s a nice oak and vinous nature to the aroma. T: A very nice sweet cherry flavor along with some sweet and mildly roasted malts. Like the nose, the tartness is not incredibly strong, but it does provide a nice depth. There is a flavor which I can only describe as cherry skins as well, and along with the oak, gives the beer some nice tannic dryness. M: The body is quite full, especially if you consider this a "wild ale". The carbonation is low to moderate and there’s a slight warmth without the beer being "hot". D: This was a very good beer and one that I feel incredibly fortunate to have tried. Very interesting blend of sweet and tart and well balanced overall.

Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 4, 2010
Bomber bottled on 11/22/2009 and consumed in January 2010. Courtesy juiceisloose. Pours a clear garnet to crimson color with a tiny beige head. Micro-spots of lacing are scattered about the glass. The nose is (predictably) quite vinous, showing peppery wood and juicy, jammy cherry. An acetic tartness works well with the grapey cabernet notes, while hints of leather, vanilla, toasted oak, and mineral earth offer further wine-like tendencies. Dry cocoa bring in just a hint of welcomed, balancing roastiness. Flavors largely follow suit, again based in vinous cherry and grape notes, backed up by drying cocoa and a trace of dried caramel. The buggy barrel influence is nicely assimilated in a brew of this nature, imparting just a bit of needed acetic character. Medium bodied, semi dry, and fizzy on the tongue, the palate is appropriately crisp and a little leathery. Good brew. Unlike some of the other Jackie-O bottle releases, this one actually benefits from the bugs.

M: Medium in body light on the carbonation. D: Damn good beer.

22oz bottle courtesy moejuck. Darkest rust/ruby/brown with just a few tan bubbles. Sweet and tart cherries- juice, flesh, and skins- some barrel funk, and subtle notes of roasty malt in the aroma. Smells great. Flavor adds a ton of vinous dark fruit, earthy cocoa, oxidation, tannic oak, and hints of vanilla. Medium body, smoother than balanced. The low carbonation works very well with the tart and tannic nature of this brew. Dry, sour, tannic finish. Great brew.

Thanks to Shane (hophead84) and Javier for both bringing this bottle to Woodshop 5.0. Pours a medium cola brown with a reddish tint and a small off white head, some spotty lacing. Great nose of sweet and sour cherries with some roasted malts in the background. Lightly acidic on the palate with nice cherry flavors and a long semi sweet finish, great stuff!
