Sample at the HSC Sour Beer Tasting on 06/19/2010: Thanks to JaBier for sharing bottle #106/156. The beer is a dark brown color with some hints of red. Thin light beige head that recedes quickly, and spotty lacing. Aroma of vinous fruit, dark malt and chocolate. Rich body with flavors of black cherry, roasted malt, vanilla and cedar. The finish is malty with a lingering cherry aftertaste. Good all around.

Yet another very cool brew courtesy of markwise. Pours mahogany with thin tan head. The aroma has at first a thin pulse of roasty malts and molasses and then moving into modest red wine grape tartness as well as mild notes of oak. The taste is smooth to start with some roasty malts moving toward sour red wine and then some modest tartness too. It stays modestly tart into the finish and becomes somewhat refreshing.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small off white head. The aroma is acid, cherries, light chocolate and some hard roasted malt. The flavour is quite acidic, cherries, sweet malt and chocolate. Quite vinous.

bottle, thanks to bman1113vr, pours the color of port wine, some white foam with bubbles, aromas of wine, earthy , flavors of young pinot, sour, leather, earthy fruit, chalky on finish

22oz bomber thanks to JCB! Pours a deep amber with not much of a head nor lace- okay because it’s barrel aged! Very sweet nose with oxidized fruit, dark chocolate, cherries. Taste is a bit like a sour cherry porter. Still, it comes off a bit medicinal. Really interesting.

In short: A very fruity (all kinds of red fruits) oaky/tannic dark ale. Good sipper
How: Bottle shared at RBSG 2011 grand tasting
The look: Near black body topped by a small dark beige head
In long: Nose is very fruity but not particularly cherry-fruity, I notes berries of all kinds with plenty of oak barrels. Taste more of the same. This is a very fruity beer (wild berries, cherry skin, dark grapes, even some raspberries), some chocolate, some leather, vinous notes, a lot of oak tannins. Smooth carbonation. Quite tasty and actually very good too. This was my last rating at the RBSG 2011 grand tasting and my thoughts and prayers are with all those who same to Ratebeer Summer Gathering mega-party hoping to get laid.

Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with an off white head. Malty body with chocolate and caramel malt tones. A modest warming with a large sweet cherry tone and some light oak. A mild tartness with a vinous and oak warming. Nice.

sebletitje (5420) - Enghien, BELGIUM - DEC 19, 2009
courtesy of Markwise pours reddish, no head. aroma and flavor, loads of cherries / mild cherry tartness. Barrel on this one was rather enjoyable, not overdone, lingering chocolate malts, and dark fruits; currants. Cabernet adds a nice warming abv and grape like mouthfeel that blends perfectly with the barrel. Another tasty treat by Jackie-O

Chitown RB gathering Jan 2010: bottle #69 shared by Kan, thanks

Deep brownish hue with reddish highlights with minimal head or lace. The aroma has a big sour fruit (red grapes and cherries) and oak vapour along with some walnut and chocolate, continuous lactic acid. The taste has a sour fruity overtone with some sweet malt background. Wine barrel tannic finish. The mouth feel is soft and refreshing. This will be nice with some more age methinks
