A Flanders style brown ale. We took Chomo-lung-ma (our organic honey nut brown) and aged it in a second generation Woodford Reserve barrel (subtle bourbon flavor, notes of American oak) for four months with 30lbs of tart cherries and a specially blended culture of wild yeast and beer souring bacteria. Chunga’s Old Bruin exhibits and aroma of sweet cherries and faint chocolate/ roasted malt complemented by a faint oak bouquet. The flavor has a pronounced sour character with the caramel, chocolate, and roasted malt finish.

Bottle. Deep red pour with white head (looking good). Intense cherry/vanilla aroma, earthy notes, damp earth. Taste is sour, acetic (not overdone), very good potent cherry flavor. Good palate, medium dryness, low carbonation. Very good.

Bottle shared by Darkguardian. Clear dark amber pour with an off white head. Malt and barrel aromas. Really sour with mild cherry, vinegar, malt, and woody notes. Decent body and mouthfeel.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2013 Reddish brown color out of the bottle with almost no head. The nose had nice candy cherries with some wood and funk. Cherry, bitter chocolate, wood chips, cider vinegar and funk all blend to make this a palatable beer for someone who does not generally like the funk.

Pours brownish red with good carbonation. The head disappeared quickly and left a profound ring that hug my glass. The aroma is funky, fruity, it has a light oak scent, and a weak grain character. In the flavor I picked up on potent tart cherries, oak, vinegar, sugar, and a touch of malts. The finish is sour, cherries, and minor yeast. Overall this is a relaxing and a semi easy drinkable beverage.

Taster at Jackie-Os. Mostly hazy dark brown / red color. Minimal white head. Bigger body. Lighter, crisp, tingly carbonation. Awesome huge tart taste. Good big woody tartness, light dark fruit, hint of chocolate, light spice. Very complex, woody tart sour brown flavor to it. One of the more tasty, complex sour browns I’ve ever had. A very satisfying level of sour taste, makes me salivate, but not pucker. Awesome woody spiciness, light dark fruit, nuts, and light chocolate, with just a very light acidic finish

Bottle. Poured an amber/brown color with a small sized off white head. Some vinegar, cherries, citrus, funky, caramel, and woody. Earthiness too.

This is some good stuff. Nose is tart berries and cherries with some oak, brown sugar, and tons of funk. Taste is similar with a nice berry flavor, funkiness, oak, and some malt. Good stuff here.

This was a good sour, it smelled like strawberry applesauce... Neat. The taste reminded me of warheads (not THAT sour though) and finished warm with light bourbon and soft vanilla notes. As usual, a good brew from them.

Draft sample. Poured a cloudy brown color with a mostly lasted frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, malt and sour berry aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour tart fruit flavor with a medium to heavy tart & sour finish of moderate duration. This is a very good beer for style.
