2009 Bottle # 37/72 - Thanks JohnGalt1!!! - Pours a clear cola brown with a small off-white head...aroma is chocolate and cherries, lightly tart, dk fruity malts...flavour is kinda disappointing, thin and bitter sour cocoa, dk fruit, light acid, resiny bitter barrel on the finish, and the odd astringent bitterness lingers...

Chungas old bruin... Pours a dark cola brown with reddish brown edges
and a thin light beige head... Aroma of muted medicinal sour brown and
vinegar with somewhat of a malt backbone... Flavors are toned down
sour brown with an earthy dark fruit essence. Not as clean and refined
but there’s def some quality there.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2013 Bottle #41 of 72 (dregs)… Murky brown ale with very little head. The nose is of praline, caramel, dark cherries and wood. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and practically no carbonation. Moderately bitter with medium acidity. Fruity and caramelly. Nickel bitterness and a touch of acidity lingers.

brown pour with no head.
starts with plenty of tartness followed by caramel malts, tart cherries mouthfeel with hints of oak, yeasty. Pretty solid brew, though the sourness remains subtle and well balanced with the malty character of the palate. Toward the finish, the whole cherry tartness lingers and compliments the generous oak mouthfeel.

Medium brown, small bit of a head. Smells like an average bruin, some fruit characteristics with a touch of sour. Very simple overall with just a bit of sour, some fruit again and an odd finish.

[Bottle] shared by hellomynameis. Pours dark caramelly with a small ring of bubbles. Aroma is pear, apple, caramel, blue cheese. Flavor is lightly sour, lightly sweet, a touch of chalky caramel, a light acetic character, slight astringency on the finish.

Big, Oud-Bruiny-y nose. Sweet, dark, soured fruits. Mashed dark berries mixed with sweeter red wine? Fungus, and mushrooms. Flat. Dead, lifeless violet/brown. Dry, slightly tart and plenty metallic on the finish. Light, dark fruit. Meh… Spritzy carbonation. Creamy texture with a short, slightly watery finish. Not much to say. Thanks Zac!

1 liter growler shared by Max. Pours a deep woody hazy brown with a decent off white head. Aroma is lightly acidic tart- lactic, woody- oak, some vanilla, and bourbon- caramel sweetness, some metallin hints and some cherry pit tannin. MOre cherry and cherry pit- tannic, leather, earth, lacto acidity, slight aceto vinegar, rusty metallic, and a nutty chocolate character. Not really flemish red like.
