COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. After a month of conditioning in stainless steel, the beer was transferred into bourbon barrels. For 8 months, Dark Apparition waited patiently in oak barrels until the time was right to spring forth with its ghostly gusto. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition cause this ghost is a creeper.

(Jackie Os Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition) Bottle 355 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 11.5% Totally black colour on the body, small but thick dark brown head sitting on top, with good retention. Aroma of soy sauce, alcohol, bourbon, chocolate, roasted malts. Taste has plenty of bourbon, still soy sauce but much lighter now, on the other hand much more chocolate and a milky on, roasted malts, light alcohol. As it warms up the soy sauce nuances fade away and it tastes more like a chocolate dessert. Medium body with good carbonation. Sticky on the palate. Very good.

Bottle from former Molen beershop @ Benzai, medium sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Aroma of some roast, dark chocolate, vanilla, bit coconut, slight oak wood, touch of coffee, biscuit, cookie. Roasty bitterness, some vanilla and coconut sweetness. Bit more dry in taste than I expected, could use some more body. Love the aroma, absolutely awesome.

Thanks Joel aka Boatsandhoes on talkbeer. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a dark brown color with a quickly dissipating slim fingered head that didnt leave any lacing. The smell started off a major sweet bourbon boozy dry woody aroma over top of sweet brown sugar and a light vanilla. The flavor copies the aroma nicely, taking on the dryness to come across in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation sits fairly low key. Still, the dryness hits at the mouthfeel. Overall, I liked the other Dark Apparition with the vanilla and coffee way more. This was good, but theres almost that cloyingly sweetness trying to make a slight presence in the feel.

Refrigerated 12.7 oz. brown bottle from JStax poured into a snifter. Coal black with small beige head. Aroma is nice light bourbon and chocolate, medium/thick body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, molasses, some oak, some heat, hints of booze, and balancing hops. This is the best Jackie Os beer I have had, thanks JStax.

Taste has bitter roasty bakers chocolate, some vanilla, licorice, a touch thinner in the body. Finishes with moderate sweetness, bitter roast, coffee, cream, nutty, light bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2016 vintage. Served in a Jackie Os snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells like brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, and some coffee. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but theres also some burnt/charred malt and woody flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, its slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot and I definitely recommend this, but then pretty much everything from Jackie Os is really good!

375 ml bottle (11.5% abv). Vertical tasting with Jackie Os Vanilla & Coffee Bean Dark Apparition.
Pours jet black color with a small beige head. Quite distinct bourbon aroma, vanilla, cocoa, dark chocolate and dark malts. Sweet bourbon and brown sugar on the flavor, caramel, syrup notes and dark chocolate. Aroma is excellent, flavor is nice. Slightly better compared to Vanilla & Coffee Bean version.

Sweet and heavy with bourbon notes.
