4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 alexsdad06 (3040) - Ohio, USA - JUN 25, 2012Draft during Ohio Brew week (from notes). Pours oily black with a thin beige film; shows very light carbonation. Nose is a wonderful mix of chocolate and mint reminiscent of a York peppermint patty. The flavor has much of the same with creamy dark chocolate and mint blending seemlessly with the base beer. I don’t get much of the coconut unless it helps to add balance. The regular mint DA was a bit too minty. Quite good.

amazing. sample a ohio brew week last year (yes, looking thru old notes here). i love the original apparition but this took it to a whole other level. the coconut and mint gave this a lighter mouthfeel and layers of flavor. i still think my fave is just the dark apparition w mint without the coconut but this is a close second. yummmmm
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 JaBier (3729) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 24, 2011
Sample followed by full snifter at Jackie O’s on 7/13/11. Darkest brown to black pour with a medium tan head. Minty aroma backed by some nice dark chocolate notes. Minty and chocolatey flavor with a touch of booze in the finish. Perfectly balanced between mint and chocolate. Really tastes like a thin mint Girl Scout cookie. Not detecting coconut in nose or flavor, but it’s absolutely delicious.

Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. Pours flat black with a thin light beige head that dissipates to an outer ring quickly. Small patches of lacing. Aroma similar to a peppermint patty. Rich and smooth body with flavors of chocolate and mint along with some malt. The finish is reminiscent of an after dinner chocolate mint. Very good beer overall.
