Tap sample. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet dark chocolate malt flavor with a heavy bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Thanks to JaBier for sharing a growler. The beer pours black with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Heady roasted coffee and chocolate in the nose. Rich body with flavors of fresh roasted coffee, dark chocolate and malt. The finish is roasty with a subtle coffee aftertaste. Tried back to back with Brunch Weasel and this beer easily goes toe to toe with it. Very good all around.

Sample on tap at Jackie-O’s 7th. Really nice roasted malt / nutty aroma. Dark brown but still clear dark color. Minimal light brown head. Amazing coffee aroma. Good dry coffee flavor. Light carbonation. Big bitterness. Amazing coffee russian imperial stout. Wow, Jackie-Os definitely knows their way around Kopi Luwak.. Such excellent big bitter roasty coffee stouts

On tap at the brewery during the 5th anniversary party. Poured near black with opaque edges and no head whatsoever. Aroma had notes of rich coffee, roasted malts and dark chocolate with a slight underlying earthy note. Flavor began with rich, slightly bitter coffee. The coffee was joined by growing dark roasted malt and a hint of alcohol in the finish.

Draft at Jackie O-s (notes). Pours dark like all the others with a thin tan head. Nose is quality coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Not much different from the regular coffee. Flavor is much better; the coffee flavors are nit as harsh, a touch sweeter and more integrated with everything else. Dark chocolate roasted malts and more smooth. Tasty.

On tap at Jackie O’s 5th Anniversary Extravaganza. Black pour with a thin tan head. Malty aroma with coffee that’s rich and full, but doesn’t dominate. Chocolate and a bit of heat come through as well. Flavor is chocolate covered coffee beans with a smooth, roasty finish. I was really looking forward to this one and it didn’t disappoint.

Helmut brought this one to the 12/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a growler this beer poured thick and black with a medium sized foamy brown head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was very strong espresso, vanilla and cream. The flavor was incredibly strong coffee with notes of vanilla, marshmallow, vanilla, more coffee and then cream. Long coffee and vanilla finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth.

This poured a jet black color with a tan head. Aroma was loads of fresh coffee and dark roasted mlat, some tobacco too. Flavor was straight espresso coffee but not too dark where it tastes burnt, sweet and roasted malts, and some licorice too. Excellent stuff.

Opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, burnt wood, cocoa, and light alcohol. Taste was all coffee, robust, roasted malts, burnt wood, some dark fruitiness, vanilla bean, and a dry finish.

Just like the regular coffee version, this pours a very dark brown color with a thin whisp of a tan head. There is a low cap as it falls with a few bubbles around the edges. The nose is quite interesting and brings a stronger, more complex coffee presence than did the regular coffee version. The coffee is stronger here, though is still lets the base beer come through a bit. Really digging the coffee used in this one.
The taste isn’t quite as good. As with the regular coffee, I was looking for a big more integration between the base beer and the Kopi. The coffee is really dominant with some chocolate undertones as well as a slightly-roasted character. Good body with a slight touch of booze and a nice coffee dry bitterness. Drinks quite well. A solid brew.
