4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
A- Body is a very dark brown, nearly black hue. Served with virtually no head-but with a think tan collar that remains thin but lingers on for awhile. Hints of vibrant red can be seen when this brew is held up to the light.
S- A hint of chili accents the classic DA IRS behind it. A bit of cinnamon lies deep within the background.
T- Flavor is a lot like regular DA but has an accent of chili and spicy cinnamon with roasted malt, vanilla, anise, licorice, and dark chocolate undertones. The spiciness fades for the finish and lets the stout characteristics shine through for a moment. Before the spiciness really kicks in- hot cinnamon and a hint of chili linger on and on for quite awhile.
M- Low to medium carbonation and a nice thick, viscous body that is exceptionall smooth and creamy.
D- Now THIS is a mole stout. Other than Hunahpu’s I have only had one other at a brewpub-and this is much better than both (though my 4 for appearance may subtract from how much I really love this brew). Its a fantastic, exceptionally well done brew overall-and one of my favorite stouts. Hopefully this will come around again or be bottled.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark pour with minimal head and lace. Aroma is cinnamon, star anise, and chilie. Bittersweet chocalte, oange, light vanilla and coffee upfront. Finish is dry and pretty spicy (hot). I swear I didn’t really like this but, I found myself going back for more on multiple occasions

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled from the tap at the brewery during the 5th anniversary party. Poured black with opaque edge and a near white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was mainly cinnamon and chilies with a bit of cocoa and coffee. Flavor started with roasted malt and cinnamon with growing chillies leading to a spicy finish with the underlying notes of coffee and cocoa.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one poured a jet black color with a tan head. Aroma was of light chocolate, chiles, roasted malt, and the anise comes through a bit too. Flavor was a great blend of the sweetness of the stout and the chocolate mixed with the spiceness of the hops and the chiles. The only thing retracting from this beer is the burn in the throat after swallowing from the chiles.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark Apparition Mole. On tap at JO’s.. Appearance same as the rest...Aroma of semi-spiced chocolate
flavors where the peppers aren’t as prominent but still present...
Flavors a deeper chocolate and black licorice with a spicy chile
pepper backbone. I like the added touch of some spice which coincides
well with a decent body and adequate carbonation. Def more of a
favorite of mine than the different varieties.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Jackie O-s. Pours dark like all the others with small head. Nose has roaster malt, dark chocolate, chilis and some spice. Flavors are much if the same. I like the heat from the pepper. I think if this had more body that it would pull this off a but better. As it stands, I thought it was pretty good.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Jackie O’s 5th Anniversary Extravaganza. Pours darkest brown with a medium tan head. Malty nose with cinnamon and chili peppers. Chocolate malt flavor with notes of licorice and cherry before a slightly hot (as in pepper, not alcohol) finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap into a snifter. Appearance is dark black with a thin tan head that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is of chilies, cinnamon, coffee, and a touch of vanilla. Taste is much better than I expected. The peppers used in this were a great deal less offensive than I expected because they were playing more of a secondary role. This beer was a nice surprise.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 Draft at brewpub. Pours black. Nose and taste of roast chocolate, coffee and Christmas spices - though star anise and black licorice really overpower the palate.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap into a tulip...Looks no different than of the the dark app variants...Aroma of chocolate with vanilla, winter spices, and chili accents. The chili is nice not overpowering adds something to this...The taste starts off pretty nice but the chili’s are not as successful here as in the aroma. Gives it a weird taste I’m not loving. The added heat is a nice touch though. In middle of the da variants.
