@Basunen 14-8-23: ganska trevlig doft med hint av kaffe, choklad och alkohol. Smaken är fyllig, något tott, fin eftersmak.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle bought @ the Mikkeller Webshop. Pours dark reddish blackish brown with a small mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet and slightly malty with toasted malts, toasted cereal, dark bread, cocoa powder, nespresso, chlorine, glue, alcohol, hay and hints of soil. Taste is sweet, bitter and slightly malty with roasted malts, dark rye bread, melted snow, minerals, burnt wood, bitter chocolate, burnt coffee beans, hay, alcohol and soil. Mouthfeel is tiny round, astringent, slightly watery and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and slightly malty with roasted malty, dark rye bread, minerals, bitter chocolate, burnt coffee beans, burnt wood, hay, soil and alcohol. Unbalanced and currently way too hot.

37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are malt, chocolate, coffee, and herbs - with a slightly dry finish. ABV is pretty well hidden.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the Crest Tavern in Clintonville--Columbus, OH. Very dark brown to near black. Thin beige head. Aromas of dark chocolate and vanilla. Flavors are chocolate, molasses, licorice, and dark fruit. Perhaps some vanilla and dates in the finish. Noticeable alcohol warmth. Creamy mouthfeel. Big, chewey and decadent! This is like a slice of rich chocolate cake. Delicious!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Black with a medium sized brown head. Molasses, dark chocolate, charcoal, light coffee, warming alcohol, light figs, dates, vanilla, very light inky. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Rich but not raw or sticky sweet, pretty soft actually and nice to drink. Good stuff.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2015 On tap at Daily Growler, Powell. Deep brown pour with thin tan head. Roasty malt and coffee in the aroma. Tastes are brown sugar, cocoa, roasty burnt vibe, vanilla. Little tinny. Very good, but little dissapointed given the reputation. I’m sure I’ll give it another go at some point. - 7.4

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
375 ml bottle, 2014 vintage. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit (raisins, plums), coffee, and caramel. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there’s also some molasses, herbal hops and burnt/charred malt noticeable too. It’s a tasty brew, with plenty of roasty, bitter, and sweet flavors. Just gets better and better the longer I drink this! Mouthfeel/body is full, it’s rich, creamy and coating with low/moderate carbonation. I think it’s a pretty good RIS. Hopefully Jackie O’s will put out another batch of this soon! $5.99 a bottle.
