This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition ’cause this ghost is a creeper.

375 ml 2014 bottle shared with my wife on Halloween. Thanks to jtclockwork for sending this my way! Pours thick, nearly black with frothy mocha head that dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma: stone fruit, bitter chocolate, some roast. Surprisingly fruity, with undertones of molasses and licorice. Taste: chocolate and dark fruit dominate; moderately roasty bitter finish. Palate: chalky texture. Full- body, average carbonation. Lingering alcohol on the tongue. Overall: Solid imperial stout suitable for Halloween.

Bottle. It pours an almost black body under a tan head. The aroma is a bit weak I think, but what is there is nice. Coffee, dark sugar and chocolate, with some licorice and alcohol. It’s rather warming on the palate, full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. Roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate and some booze in the flavor, some bitterness kicking in towards the warming finish. Very warming this one, lacking on aroma, but overall nice. 141025

Bottle from jsquire, thanks Jeff! Pours black as coal with a tan head leaving spotty lacing. Aroma has loads of sweet caramel, chocolate, some roast, some molasses and a touch of smoke. Taste is of sweet molasses, bakers chocolate, roast, heavy caramelly malts and some umami. Full bodied yet with not much of an alcohol presence. Finishes more bitter than sweet, with some length. Solid and tasty brew with many components. 14.7
