This hauntingly good brew in your hand is rife with dark complexities. Eleven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected American hops help support the monolithic maltiness of Dark Apparition. A truly decadent brew that is intended to be poured into your favorite snifter and given time to warm up from its dark and cold resting place. Be aware when in the presence of Dark Apparition ícause this ghost is a creeper.

On tap at the pub. Dark beer with a rich, creamy head and a smooth oily mouth feel. Nose of rich, expensive chocolate and something like ice cream. There is a lot going on in this beer, with flavors of coffee with caramel syrup in it, raisin bread, chocolate covered cherries and a nice alcohol bloom. This is a great beer.

A little unusual - sweet, earthy, bitter - three things that donít traditionally work well together. I did, however, enjoy it because it was incredibly easy to drink for a 10% stout. Not completely convinced that it worked that well, but an interesting idea nonetheless.

22 oz. bottle, sent from St. Fun (thanks Josh), pours black with a small tan / light brown head. Aroma of moderate roasted malt, a little chocolate, vanilla, caramel and a little coffee. Flavour is a touch sour, with notes of acidic cherries, coffee, and more cherries. Quite acidic, sour and cherry-ish for an impie stout. Fairly light-to-medium bodied, with an acidic cherry finish. Once you get your brain around that this is supposed to be an impie stout, itís quite enjoyable; but the sour notes do put up a red flag that perhaps this is infected a bit. Off the mark.

22oz bottle. 2011 release, #119/228, courtesy of alexsdad. thanks, brad! pours a deep, dark, mocha brown capped by a razor thin, kahki head that leaves a sliver of lace. aroma is great with heavy roasted malts, black coffee, chocolate cake, and anise backed by tart, dark fruits, subtle toffee, and hints of earth. flavor is very nice, but maybe a bit off, with a heavy dose of tart berries, red wine, and a bit of funk up front backed by cold, bitter coffee, dark chocolate, and ashy malts with a lingering finish of roast and dark fruits. palate is medium bodied with light carbonation that makes it feel a touch thin. overall, a nice imperial stout but iím worried this may have developed a touch of infection.

Tap at JOís anny party, Brad set out to do what makes him happy, and thats a great way to brew. this nails all the flavors he set out to do.. but I feel like iím missing something here, its really a solid stout and iíd love to have it around but its not crazy awesome, I think OaA is better.

Thanks Helmut! Sampled from a growler this beer poured an oily black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet toasty malts, cocoa, vanilla and anise. The flavor was sharp and bitter fruity hops, anise, toasty malts, port wine, cherry, vanilla and a hint of mint. Incredibly long hoppy and toasty finish with anise and cherry notes. Thick and creamy - the beer really coats the tongue and refuses to leave. Marvelous!

Very dark brown beer, small chocolate coloured head. Rich dark malt nose with a promise of dark fruits and warming spirit. Smooth softish palate, semi dry. Rich dark malt and cream, A little dark chocolate and a touch of coffee. Whisper of red berry fruits underneath. Finishes semi dry with a tiny drop of honey. Light on itís feet, delicious and drinkable.
