From the September 2012 3R6P gathering. +++ From a growler this beer poured a medium amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was strong catbox and pine. The flavor was strong catbox, pine, sour orange, a moderate boozy presence and sharp and crisp grapefruit. Long finish of catbox, pine and orange. Thick and full bodied. Interesting.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy amber colored body with a slight orange note to it. Finger-width, creamy, beige head dissipates slowly leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is awesome. Explosive tropical florals and grapefruit pine resins with a nice caramel sweetness. Flavor is similar with big florals, resiny pines, sweet caramels, grapefruits, mango tropical fruits, and more orange towards the end. Finishes dry and moderately bitter with some oily citruses, lots of florals, pine resins, big oranges and grapefruits, and a nice caramel sweetness to balance. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium, slightly oily and chewy body with a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty awesome DIPA. Tons of florals and a really nice pine resin with a great caramel backing to balance. Lots of tropical fruits and citruses with a bigger, but balanced bitterness. Excellent.

From tulip at brewpub. Heavy aroma of floral and citrus hops with a slight hint of belgian spice. Hazy orange/amber in color with a nice white head. Good amount of lacing left on the glass. Taste is a creamy mouthful with a medium body. Orange, flowers, grass, biscuity malt with some spice on the back end. Dry finish with a hoppy backbone. Enjoyable DIPA.

Aroma is fantastic hops are fruity and citrus. Pours a hazy dark amber. Great hop taste litterly feel like there should be a couple whole cone hops in the bottom. Great malt balence for a dipa but the hops are definitely the star. Little bit of an alcohol burn, couple of these will set u straight. This beer exemplifies all the triaits that I expect in a dipa.

Hazy amber beer. Softish palate, a little dry. Light carbonation. Rich grapefruit marmalade. Aniseed - licorice spice and subtle sweet peach and fresh orange. Finishes dry but then has a bitter spicy aftertaste. Very drinkable DIPA.

Had this yesterday, on tap at the brewpub, served in a tulip. Listed as 9.5% ABV when I tried it. Was totally blown away. Slightly hazy amber color, nice thick layer of creamy off-white head. Lots of lace. So creamy and smooth, yet big bodied, that it almost feels like a nitro (also tried the nitro version today, it had that typical-nitro super-creamy head and appearance, with more even lace. Was very smooth, awesome, and recommended). Very light and crisp carbonation. Awesome, humongous yet not too harsh hop aroma. Some nice warmth, a reasonable amount, in my opinion. Really great amount of bitterness - not overwhelming, and that little bit of alcohol warmth makes this brew a great sipper that will hold your attention and command your respect. Excellent citrus-y resin-y pine-y powerful hop aroma. Best beer I’ve had in a while. Also tried the 2x dry-hopped version today on the other side... Much spicier, resiny hoppy taste. Very interesting and unique and even more powerful aroma. Great nose, with an almost oregano-like taste. Overall, they were all excellent, but I enjoyed the classic the most, followed by the nitro, followed by the dry-hopped.

Poured on draft into a sampler glass. Appearance is a hazy yellow/copper with a sticky white head of foam that remains through the beer’s entirety. Aroma is loaded with citrus and floral notes with a lightly present malt. Taste is predominantly sweet with an obvious bitter overtone. Delicious. For a double IPA, I think this is remarkable drinkable. Two or three pints of these would definitely be doable.

Poured on draft. Appearance is translucent copper with a sticky white head of foam thay leaves loads of splotchy lacing. Aroma is pungent citric hops. Loafs of grapefruit influence and juicy characteristics are right in the forefront throughout the drink. Medium bodied and nicely spritzy carbonation. This beer kicks some ass.

Comes in a tulip glass. Head is basically lacing along edge. The grapefruit/pine aroma is almost face slapping in its intensity. Mouthfeel is sticky/cloying. The grapefruit quality is up front and the finish lasts. A DIPA that I enjoyed mainly in that I did not get any plastic notes that I do in similar beers.
