4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 thome50 (627) - Boringville aka Irvine, California, USA - MAY 19, 20122012 bottle release from the Staff only bottle release. Pours a light hazy brown with no head. Aroma is of light raspberry, honey comb, and some soury malt. Taste is tart, apple, boozy raspberrys and port wine with some fresh wine grape fruit taste. Mouthfeel is rich as it warms. Overall this is a great beer but can see it being polarizing similar to V009. Not as complex as that beer but very nice raspberry wine notes. First jackie o bottle is a success.

Bottle shared by Sarro and crew who very graciously hosted us during the Hill Farmstead 3rd anniversary snowstorm. Clear copper pour with ring of white foam. Really good fruity raspberry aroma, light lactic notes, wet grain. Taste is really tart, great raspberry flavor, dry finish. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reynolds314 (1543) - Connecticut, USA - APR 4, 2013
Aroma is ripe berries and lemony zing. Flavor is intensely tart and very reminiscent of balsamic vinegar. Fruits are on the back end but need to be a little more forward to balance out the acetic nature of this one.. Good but man its tart.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 alexsdad06 (3102) - Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2013
Staff bottle. Pours a reddish/purple/brown color with a small off white head. The aroma is raspberry forward with a strong tart character, lacto, woody with some mildly sweet caramel in the background. The flavor is much of the same; big tart raspberry, lacto, wood, caramel, all blending nicely together. Strongly tart, but very drinkable. I had this from one of the barrels a couple years ago and this has come along quite nicely.

Bottle - thanks Doug! Murky dirty orange pour with a small head. Leather, tobacco, sour fruit - this is quite complex. Delicious! Bottle is stamped with "staff only" - Doug traded a copy of his book for this with the brewer!
