From the news section of Jackie-Os website: "Hop Ryot has hit the taps and I believe that this is the finest IPA that we have produced here at Jackie O’s. Get to the pub to try this rye IPA, or look for it on draft at Bodega in Columbus." ... On the chalkboard-menu in the bar (as of spring 2011): "So freakin’ good!"

This has been on tap alot recently and for good reason. I think with rye you are either a fan or you are not, I am a fan as I think the rye gives a unique spice to the beer that you cant get with hops. It has very good bitterness to it the finish is lingering and the rye spice is very noticeable. When it is on draft it is one I always get.

12 oz can poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Hazy golden brown/orange with a finger of off-white head. Some bits of sediment. Aromas of citrus, tropical fruit, rye, caramel. Aroma seems a bit light. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, tropical fruit, rye, floral hops, caramel, a bit of sweet malt. Medium body with a dry finish. Juicy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Pretty good.

Quite perfumy out of the can. Looks like a darker hefe. First taste is a big dull blast of IPA naughtiness. Yes, terribly on style for a rye IPA. Long bitter rude medicinal hop finish, wew. Nasty Nellie. If yer a lager lover, better stay away from this stuff.

Can from Weilands. Murky deep yellow pour with a thin white head. Aroma is floral, caramel and rye. Tastes are spicy rye, grapefruit, solid malt backing, bready. Spicy finish. Don’t know if I’d go for it regularly, but good.

Twelve oz can on vacation in NC. This beer pours a hazy apricot with a nice thick head of off white foam. Nose is floral hops. Taste is a good blend of sharp herbal notes and evergreen hops, medium malt with a touch of sweetness. Body medium with active bubbles. Finish with a good amount of bitters.

Not happy with this one: overly bitter a pretty harsh bite from the rye. Not sure why, just not digging this one, even though I have liked many rye beers in the past. 12oz can pour.

Can thanks to DrSilverworm. Pours a hazy gold color with a small frothy head that fades to a ring and leaves decent lacing. Aromas are oranges, grapefruit, peaches, and a hint of flowers. Taste starts with a light malty sweetness to go with the citrus fruit and peaches. Finishes moderately bitter with spicy rye, pine, and flowers. Fairly dry finish with a citrus rind aftertaste. Pretty good IPA.

Can courtesy of phaleslu. Bright light orange golden with a fluffy medium dissipating white head. Pleasant aroma, fruity, citrus, hoppy, floral. Bigger light body. Crisp and refreshing. Oily. Semi sweet. Moderate plus grassy and floral bitterness and light rye spiciness. Pretty dry. Good stuff.
