On tap, served in a pint glass. Pitch black color, light brown head. Great, creamy milky aroma. Nice sheety lace. Light carbonation, very smooth. Good chocolate aftertaste... It’s like chocolate milk. Has a bit of hop bitterness in there too, though. Awesome, but maybe a bit on the sweet side

Dark pour with a lush cascading head and drippy lace. Aroma is Roast, bakers chocolate, and coffee. Body was not as thin as i was expecting given the ABV. Loads of chocolate, licorice, dark fruit and coffee. Prolly more of a stout than a porter but what the HELL do I know

"Robust brown porter based off Dark Apparition." On tap at the brewpub on December 30, 2010.
Pours dark brown with a single-finger tan head that leaves behind a touch of lacing and fades down into a thin cap. The nose is pretty robust as the name implies with some nice roasted malt, coffee, and some mild chocolate. The taste is roasty with some espresso beans and chocolate. Slight sweetness and roast combine very well on a nice body. Good drinkability. Curious if this was the second runnings from a batch of DA or just a smaller beer with a similar malt base.

Draft at Casa Nueva in Athens, OH. A very nice porter. Had it side by side with Edmund Fitzgerald, and it certainly held its own. Nice flavors of roasted malt, this porter was creamy and smooth and delicious.

On tap at the Jackie O’s 5th Anniversary Extravaganza. Darkest brown pour with a medium beige head. Malty nose with caramel and a bit of roast. Roasty malt flavor with chocolate and caramel character. Pretty solid for what I’m assuming is a second runnings beer.

Poured from a Growler I to a large snifter. Appearance is a dense black with a thin tan head. Almost no lacing. Aroma is licorice, black coffee, and malts. Taste is much like the aroma with the coffee up front and licorice and dark chocolate in the background. Heavy on the palate as well as the stomach. Quite a filling brew and quite enjoyable.
