3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle, bottled on 11/30/09, courtesy of MrChopin. Hazy marmalade color with a thin ring of white foam that never quit goes away. Candied orange peel and toasted malt on the aroma, maybe a hint of pine also. Big herbal bitterness, slightly astringent and vegetal with a hint of toasted malts. I don’t think father time has been awesome to this beer, but all in all much better than I was expecting for a 5 month old DIPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Local Cantina in Grandview. Dark gold pour, thin white head. Aroma of resin citrus hops. Tastes of caramel, earthy, tropical fruit, resiny. Even bitter and little spice in the finish. Palate is thin and makes such a big brew drinkable. Very nice.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap in Cleveland (OH)
A strong imperial IPA contains all the hallmarks of a typical Midwestern IPA. Evidence that the folks in Athens still have their ’A’ game, this took little effort to finish. If it had not been $7.50 for a full pint I might have ordered one after finishing a sampler.
Aroma / Appearance - A transparent bronze body shimmers as it filters out a quarter of the ambient light. Thin wispy head releases bursts of grapefruit, citrus, resin, and floor wax. A malty core binds everything together though it retains a strong tropical inspiration.
Flavor / Palate - A full creamy body hits the tongue with waves of rosy flavors and pine. Grapefruit, pine, and tree sap transition to a solid hop driven finish. While malt acts as a welcome glue there is no doubt what drives this beer - hops, hops, and more hops. I would love to get my hands on a fresh bottle of the double hopped version.

The beer is golden orange with a small, soapy white head. Aromas of spicy malt, tropical fruit, booze. Bold and assertive flavor, with mango, pineapple. Resinous and full bodied, finishing with alcoholic warmth. Pretty tasty.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Jackie O’s. Pours gold with a decent head and huge aromas of mango, papaya, pineapple and a hint of resin. The papaya was a particular shock to me. Very strong presence in both the nose and flavor. Booze is obvious (board says 11.9% on this batch) and it says "Beware!"

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on 4/28/12 with the Nashville and Knoxville crews at Curtis’ old house, big thanks to JR for bringing this one. Pours clear orange with an average off-white head that leaves average lace. The nose is sweet orange peel, some resin hops, and light caramel malt. The flavor is pretty much the same, a more malt-forward DIPA with sweet and bitter orange peel, a nice hit of bitterness, and caramel malt. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long orange peel and resin hops finish.

Pours dark gold with white head and some lacing. Aroma of sweet tangerine...like the lifesaver. Taste is citrus (orange, grapefriut) hops. The Middle is bitter, followed quickly by pineapple and malty backbone. Excellent brew.
