3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at DLD í12 thanks to Kan. You know heís the man. Hazed orange with a thin head. Sweet malts orange, grapefruit, and other citrus aromas that are light but nice. Sweet malt flavors. Lemon orange are tasty but there is so much booze. Iím surprised this is only clocking in at 8.5% ABV, maybe there is just no malt to hide that alcohol. Bitter and boozy. 8/4/7/3/14

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft to taster at Jackie Oís (from notes). Looks good; orange with low carbonation and some white lacing. Smells good; sweet and hoppy. Tastes like it smells, only better with nice balance and a good mouthfeel (especially for being iced). WINNING!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler contributed to and provided by brad. i asked and he was more than happy to send this to be shared on dlday. i had plenty of mini-pours of this over the course of the day... pours a hazy somewhat sticky hazy orangey caramel brown hue and topped with a thin quickly dissipating white to barely off-white head... resinous and grapefruit citrusy hop component abundant in the aroma. mild sweetness throughout but plenty of hops and bitterness still present. some caramel malt backbone lies underneath but plays a subordinate role... flavor are more of the same, a bit thicker in consistency for the very nature of the beer but not to the point of it becoming cloying as there is a mild dryness on the backend that helps curtail that. semi-sweet and bitter grapefruit citrus hop goodness with more citrus rind towards the backend and on through the finish. somewhat fuller in body as previously mentioned. nice semi-bitter finish. a nice treat that eventually creeps up on you if not careful. enjoyed.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample at the brewpub. Clear amber pour with a thick tan head. Nose of orange zest, herbs and malt. Orangy and piney hop flavor with some pale malt before a bitter and citrusy grapefruit finish. I really enjoyed this one. The concentration brought on by freezing really turned this into a unique and delicious brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus hop aroma. Moderate to heavy bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate alcohol bite at the finish. Very good complex brew.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I was lucky to find this on tap, what an exciting beer. Iíve heard that the ABV is around 16%, but that canít be right... Thereís not nearly enough alcohol taste. It has a little more noticeable alcohol warmth than the standard Matriarch, but honestly, no bite. Thicker, but not at all syrupy -- manages to still have a nice amount of dryness. If I had to guess... Iíd say it was 11-12% ABV. Slightly hazy golden-orange color. Minimal white head, with that silver dollar sized white circle floating on the surface. Respectable lace. I tried the standard Matriarch the day before and was blown away by it... The Mumsy still has that massive hoppiness with the same great aromas, with a bit more warmth, and maybe a little more maltiness, but thatís just fine. Very big body. Thick, but not viscous. Lighter bitter and sweet taste, some spice. Really impressive. Very happy to have gotten a chance to try this.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured on draft. Appearance is a hazy yellow with a white head of foam. Aroma is super sweet and floral. "Holy Shit!" is barely able to describe this beer. Taste is super balanced for such an ass whoopin beer. Sweet, bitter, earthy. Oh man, this is definitely a beer to savor. Iím sure the alcohol content is fairly low, but I didnít see it posted anywhere on site or on Jackie-Oís website. Iím sure itís an outrageous number. Loved it!
