Sample at Jackie Os as part of Ohio Brew Week. Slightly hazy dark brown pour with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts and hops. Light-bodied with a sweet caramel malt character and notes of roasted nuts and hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Draft at Dutchs. Great to see their stuff showing up in kegs in Cincinnati now. Pours a very dark brown, though not opaque, with a finger of tan head. Great-looking brown ale. Aroma of rich dark chocolate, oats, toasted malts, and nuts. Flavor of more rich dark chocolate, earth, oats, nuts, and well-done toast. Light-bodied, with modest carbonation and a rich, earthy mouthfeel that gives some noticeable bitterness rare in the style. Cant believe this is a 4.5% brown ale. Really rich.

Draft to pint at Dutchs. Looks good; a light cola brown with light beige lacing. Smells and tastes malty and nutty with a bit of oatmeal. Solid on the palate. Not bad.

Pours a super dark reddish brown with a decent khaki head. Aroma is kinda weak, but Im gettin a lot of malt, some brown sugar, and caramel. Taste is creamy and nutty, roasty. Its not too bad but its not outstanding either.

Draft sample. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted oatmeal, sweet coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid roasted oatmeal sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex brew.

Poured on draft. Pours a translucent brown with a thick khaki colored head of foam. The aroma has some definitive chocolate notes and some oatmeal. The taste is chocolatey sweet and smooth oaty goodness. Light on the palate yet full in flavor. This is a great brown ale.

On tap at Jackie Os. Served in a sampler glass. Pours a moderate brown color with a good off-white head. The nose is pleasantly hoppy with notes of toasted malt, bread crust, and chocolate in the background. Flavor is similar. Bitterness and light sweetness and very drinkable. A big hit.

Pint at the Public House on 5/19/12. Darkest brown to black pour with a thick tan head. Roasty, caramelly and slightly nutty nose. Malty and creamy flavor with a touch of buttered toffee and nuts before a roasty finish. Nice brown ale.
