4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Flip top bottle... Poured jet black with little-to-no head. But that’s alright. Another amazing beer from Jackie-Os in the Oil of Aphrodite series. Roasty, nutty, earthy, a hint of minerals and dirt. Roast, malt sweetness and alcohol to add complexity. I could drink this all day.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with no head. The bouquet is fudgy and nutty – subtle notes of walnut and espresso grace the air around my tasting glass. Full-bodied and oily with buzzing carbonation. The flavor is plenty warming, offering fudge, mocha and walnut shells. Finishes burnt, boozy and bittersweet. Kudos to darkguardian for popping the top on this baby!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled from a growler. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head; low carbonation. The aroma has roasted malts, dark chocolate and hints of coffee, but this really features the walnuts even more than the original Oil does. Flavor is much of the same; chocolate, roast, hints of coffee with a big walnut explosion that adds a bittersweet character. Good mouth feel, but not as big as batch one Oil. Smooth with a drier finish. Very nice beer that I am glad I got the chance to try.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample, on tap. Very dark brown color. Nice thin light brown head floating on the surface. Some lace. Big body, light carbonation. Good dry texture. Definitely nuttier than the standard Aphrodite, the walnut is much more featured here, making it more interesting and tasty to me. It complements the dark malt chocolate and coffee flavors very nicely. Nice bitter sweet taste, very tasty. Leaves a nice bittersweet walnut aftertaste. Really interesting brew, I think the extra walnut really adds to it. Even more walnut, even, would be cool.
