4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared at a recent BA/RB tasting... Poured jet black with a khaki head. Rum gave a off a little oxidization, but plenty of potent booze. Notes of oak, charred wood, raisins, dark chocolate, malted grains, licorice, dirt, and a boozy burning finish.

Black pour with light tan head and lace. Black coffee, chocolate, and booze. Chocolate, esspresso, abv, with a nice medium malty bitter. Full bodied with good carbonation. A very nice beer.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Shared at the Nashville Beer Summit, bottle #14. Sweet sugary rum/molasses aroma. Very strong and classy. Color is pitch black, very think. Flavor is glorious, very warming, the sweet vanilla rum is very noticeable, almost like the stout is was blended with it, but the consistency stayed thick as it was. Damn good.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to chswimmer on BA for sharing. Pours jet black and viscous with a small tan head. The aroma is pretty chocolatey with molasses and booze, nuts, a little rum and oak. The flavor is rather nice, a little ashy with dark chocolate, anise, soy sauce, oak, and rum-soaked toasted walnuts. Very full-bodied with low carbonation - a bit too low - and very slick. A good imperial stout overall, maybe not as good as the non-bal version though as crazy as that is.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a viscous black with a thin light tan head. Nose is hugely rum forward with some light nuttiness and roast peaking through. Flavor is just terrific. Chocolate and roasted malt up front and a hugely nutty and caramelly finish with some hints of fruitiness from the rum. Slightly tangy, no noticable alcohol this is just fantastic. A great improvement upon an already terrific beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, beige head. Pretty good retention. The nose offers lots of dark, aged rum and boatloads of chocolate accompanied by walnut shell, a splash of brandy and a modest hint of molasses. A faint herbal component is also present. Full-bodied, extremely thick and sticky with supple carbonation. The flavor imparts aged dark rum sweetness complemented by rich mocha, vanilla, walnut meat and caramel. Lengthy, luscious, semi sweet finish. Thanks go out to darkguardian for sharing this delicious beer. World class all the way!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bomber. Tasted side by side with the regular version of Oil of Afro (thanks Alex). Both very nice. Flavorful rum barrel aroma with sweet chocolates and almonds throughout. Tastes of big roasty malts blended with caramel candies and brown sugar soaked in rum. Some rich woody tones and dark fruit sweetness on the palate. Lightly carbed body with a smooth rum finish. Very easy drinking, nearly dangerous for the ABVs. Delish.....

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours black with chocolate brown head. Nose is vanilla, nuts, chocolate, rum and Candi Sugar. Taste is initially nutty with coffee and candi sugar, which gives way to a long finish of rum, velvety smooth chocolate and pleasant warming alcohol.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Jackie o’s rum Aphrodite. 22oz bottle shared by Brad while him and Art were in town....
Pours a deep dark stouty blackness with a thin light beige head... Big nutty
aroma with smooth chocolate and fudginess. A fair bit of wood
introduced with smooth dark fruit earthiness... Flavors are very
smooth with a nutty chocolate profile. Some dark fruits interplay with
a quietly silky body while incorporating nice rum and fruit aspects from the barre.. Carbonation is light but perfectly adequate.
Very smooth all around. Hope I get a chance at this again. 8/4/8/4/16

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Absolutely love the new artwork. Pours thick, dark, viscous obsidian color with a small tan-ish head. Nose is roast, slight coffee, slight candy sugar, slight barrel, roast, and coffee. Flavor is similar with roast, barrel, coffee, toasted nuts and sugar. The blend here mixes rum barrel, the nuts and sugar, and the barrel. All come out in their own time. Mouthfeel is very thick and nice (reminiscent of Ten-Fidy in the mouthfeel). Roast, coffee, and rum come out in the finish, and a small alcohol burn to wash it down. Very enjoyable Imp Stout.
