Sample at Jackie O’s Barrel Aged Beer Fest 2010. Pours dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma is coffee, some chocolate, sweet caramel and walnuts. Flavor is much the same with coffee leading and notes of sweet chocolate and walnuts in the finish.

On tap at Jackie O’s. Pours pitch black with thin tan head. Aroma was interesting. The walnut nuttiness was there. Not sure I could have detected that not knowing walnuts were used in the brew. Its definitely there. Medium oily mouthfeel. Flavor was nutty mocha, dark roast, coffee, and finishes semi sweet. A very interesting and tasty brew.

hand bottle shared by iowaherkeye via joemuck, thanks guys! black pour, wispy brownhead. a nutty and slightly odd aroma, the walnuts seems detectable. a nice nut addition to a hearty, porter like body. a very thick oily mouth feel, very very nice finish.

Nose is super roasty with noticeable dark sugary sweetness, roasted nutty notes, dark sweet fruit as well. Pours jet black, viscous, khaki short lived head. The flavor in this one is full of roast, a ton of patent malts show through as well as sugary sweetness that balances the roast, roasted nutty notes, dark fruit as well. Lingering charred roast, almost acrid, but the candi sugar balances out well. Body is full and it covers up 10% very well.

22oz capped, thanks Alex. Deep dark black, somewhat viscous, thin burnt tan head...well ring really. Heavily toasted with a oily toasted nut, bluberry, caramel, tobacco, blackberry. Good amount of roasted patent malt, ashy, dark berries and some nut...but tons of charred roast malt. So much lingering liqorice on the palate.

Thanks riversideak! nutty dark thick coffee nose, warm and creamy. jet black, slick dark mocha head, medium bodied. gritty sneer of a beer, ashy and burnt to a strong peak, passive aggressive and residual sugar. dusty. I need a rinse.

22. Sweet. Pours jet black with ruby edges and no head lace or legs. Huuuuge burnt toast nose with tons of coffee and chocolate. Sticky thick body. Ash, coffee, roast, and prunes on the midpalate. Long dry roasty finish.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2010 Unlabeled bottle courtesy of Brewmaster beace. The beer pours nearly black with a medium thick tan head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted nuts and malt, along with some chocolatey notes. Rich and smooth body with flavors of sweet malt, roasted nuts, mocha and coffee. The finish is burnt malt and chocolate with a coffee aftertaste. Enjoyable all around.

Growler, RBWG 2010. Pours a dark black body with a small fizzy light brown head. The nose is rather thick and intense with roast, molasses, heavy sweetness, and some light alcohol. The flavor is equally intense with roast, moderate sweetness, and some burnt coffee. I like the quality of the sweetness, very different from the usual lactose used. Mouthfeel is thick, a touch sticky from the sugar, but not especially cloying. Soft gentle carbonation. Nice beer.

[Bottle] shared by puddintaine and moejuck. Thanks guys! Pours pitch black with a medium tan head. Aroma is rum, deep, almost burnt roast, cocoa powder, and lighter than expected alcohol. Flavor is very roasty and a bit chalky, slightly ashy, and quite bittersweet. Very dry mouthfeel. This one tastes just like Final Push without the coffee.
