3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mcberko (4052) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 5, 2013
22 oz. bottle, pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of walnuts, almond extract, roasted malt, and brown sugar. Flavour brings out a base of roasted malt, with walnut overtones that are very subtle, a bit of brown sugar and subtle chocolate. Flavour profile is actually quite mild for a 10% impie, with no hint of alcohol. Medium-bodied with a nice variety of subtleties. Great stuff.

Tastes of dark roast malt, chocolate, molasses, dark sugars, booze - but fairly well integrated.
Full bodied with soft carbonation, oily texture, sweet finish.

Bomber poured a translucent dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, roastiness, black walnuts, carmel and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of milk chocolate, black walnut, carmel and vanilla with a smooth lingering milk chocolate finish.

Bottle shared at Woodshop 7. I can’t stand walnuts but this was pretty good. Gone was the awful astringency that eaten walnuts provide, and instead there was a nice earthy nuttiness to go along with the molasses, dark chocolate and espresso.

185/192 I think the 2010 release
Thanks to Readbaron for the bottle
A-- Poured black, no light penetrating the glass. Really nice dark chocolate head, little over one finger and looked quite marshmallow like. Held it’s own quite nicely and left good lacing through drinking. Looks a touch over carbonated but that is OK.
S-- Very hoppy front and followed by coffee, dark bakers chocolate and finishes with candied walnuts. Very rich smell. Can I use this to bake brownies with this?? More it warmed the Belgian sugar and walnuts really took hold of the beer.
T-- Once again quite hoppy and with coffee and chocolate. Kind of phased in and out between coffee and chocolate and the walnuts. Walnuts were more the back end of the taste.
M-- Really odd as this went from thin to thick. I thought thin in the front and thick in the back of the mouth. Candied walnuts dominate the back and the coffee and dark chocolate dominate the front. A little higher carbonated than what would be normal but this is easy to drink.
O-- Really solid and worth the hype on this. Liked how it went from thin to really thick in the mouth. Also the front hoppiness of the beer to thick candied walnuts and chocolate was a good touch. Well hidden AVB and was quite happy to have tried this. Quite a solid beer.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 boFNjackson (3573) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 30, 2012
Bottle at a recent bottle share... Poured jet black with a thin, light tan head. Nose of roasted malts. Thick body, I think the walnuts really contributed to the mouthfeel here. Nutty and toasted sugars to balance. Viscous and malty with roast, dark chocolate, earthy nuts and maybe some bitter coffee.

Bottle at Paul’s. Dark brown pour with tan head. Aroma has plenty of chocolate syrup, sugar, and a touch of malt vinegar. Flavor has rich chocolate liqueur and some raspberry sweetness. Slightly tart with tootsie roll in the finish. Interesting and good.

Bottle from the first batch. Pours near black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of roasted malts with a hint of smoke and a good amount walnut. Flavor again has a good amount of roasted malts and walnut with a hint of coffee in the finish.

Bomber 66 of 240 from 2011...wish I could remember from whom I got it but thank you! Dark brown with a nice mocha head that fades to a faint ring around the outside glass. A chewy, malty beer with lots of chocolate, coffee, some light vegetables, definite crushed nuttiness and butter but can’t say walnuts for sure. Full body, moderate to low carbonation, slightly bittersweet, alcohol is very well hidden until a hint on the end, lots of chocolate at the end as well. Very tasty.
