COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oil of Aphrodite is an American double stout brewed with locally harvested black walnuts and Belgian candy syrup. English, German, American, and Belgian malts are accompanied by pacific northwest hops, creating a sweet and rich springboard for deep nuttiness. Lay this beer down for a while and share with friends and loved ones. After all, beer should be enjoyed and remembered; this is why quality and character are at the heart of every beer we produce.

Bomber courtesy of Alexsdad06 thanks Brad! Pours pitch black with a one finger brown head. The nose is roasted nuts, vanilla, roasty malt and molasses. The taste is ashy cocoa, nuts, roasted malt, brown sugar and coffee. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Tasty brew.

"Had a one year old bottle for my first Jackie Os beer, and damn, was it impressive. HUGE body, almost chewy...just the way I like em. Flavor and aroma aggressively hopped (still) with a ton of roasted malt and walnuts, and a background of coffee and chocolate. Smooth finish. I like the fairly unique twist on a classic impy w/the nuttiness. Id LOVE to try the barreled version of this and might just start being more aggressive in my searching out of Jackie Os."

Taster at beerfest - nose is dark chocolate. Sip adds complex goodness. Quite flavorful. Not helpful I know but I like it.

Had on tap at Brothers Drake on the 3rd of August. $8 for the full flute. Pours a syrupy blackish dark brown with which a caf au lait spot head 1 finger in length stood. Aromas of roasted malt, dried cloves, Hersheys Special Dark powder, unripe black cherries, crushed graham crackers, walnut oil, burnt sugar, sugar plums, common medlar, and koufeta. Tastes the same with the addition lactose, cotton, grape nuts, and grilled corn. Viscous, oily and intensely flavor. Though, I did find it remarkably difficult to pinpoint just what it was I was tasting. And I had tasted lactose in this - had a milk bite experienced by mid-palate. Nuttiness wasnt overpowering, and because of this I enjoyed it all the more, but I did wonder if itd be better with a more aggressive nut component.

Draught at The Pint Room, Dublin, OH. Stark black pour; small, brown, silky head easily revived with swirling. Toasted malt, chocolate, coffee, nuts, light roast. Full, slick body. Very nice. Id like to spend more time with one of these.

4 oz draft pour at Jackie Os Public House. Black with tan head, brown hues. Aromas of sweet dark fruit, roast, chocolate. Tastes of dark fruit, dark chocolate, caramel, roast. Full body with a dry finish. Low carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Nice.

Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was a good bit or roast, dark chocolate, nutty and some yeasty notes. The taste was yeasty chocolate, some roast, nuttiness and a touch of smoke.

Sampled at dld eve. Black. Fruoty aroma. Cherries? A thinner feel. Nuts are really ligjt. Nthis is so unlike a big stout. So much more fruit. Really good and so different.

2011 vintage, bottle 293/348. Aroma is fairly fruity with some dark cherry, prune and plum notes. Medium light chocolate and light roast character balance out the fruit notes. Light anise and medium light walnut notes. As it warms tobacco and leather also become present. Pours black with a small, somewhat thin mocha head that steadily recedes to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing with medium long legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with medium chocolate notes. Medium walnut also present and more noticeable than in the aroma. Light fruit notes, but still moderately strong notes of cherries, berries, prunes and plum. Light oxidation showing itself with a slight soy sauce and cardboard character. Low roast character, light tobacco, leather and anise. Moderate bitterness with some alcohol spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and frankly a bit watery. Light astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall an interesting beer, but I think I may have laid this one down for too long as the soy sauce note was a bit too strong. I was also surprised by how comparatively thin the mouthfeel was. Nice walnut notes in the flavor though as well as good dark fruit notes.
