2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ Backcountry Pizza. Orange pour with a white head. Kind of sugary and fruity. Lemon, pear, and sweet tropical fruit. Kind of a solvent note, though. Flavor is on the sweet side. A lot of fruit: pear, tropical notes, apple, and lemon. Tart lemon juice, some solvent, and a touch of chalky astringency. Didn’t care for it much.

On tap at Back Country Pizza poured a hazy gold with a small lingering off white head. Aromas of straw and paw-paws. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of straw, paw-paws and light spice with a smooth lingering paw-paw finish.

Huge thanks to Pud for the hookup! Very inviting cloudy gold pour, modest and pert carbonation. Funky nose, quite dry in places but revealing some suggestive fruit in others. Lustrous mouthfeel, think and fulsome. Flavors are really nice, with a bit more sweetness in there than most Berliners. Overall, it’s also a little less acetic and has more lactobacillus than usual, but that makes for a nice, vigorous changeup to a style I wish was more common.

In short: A full body, tart and very wheaty Berliner Weisse with plenty of tropical and exotic fruits flavors. Very good.
How: Tap at Hill Farmstead brewery.
The look: Cloudy blond body topped by a small white head.
In long: Nose is fruity (tropical fruits, exotic fruits) over nice musty and farmhouse notes. Taste is full of wheat, tropical fruits, exotic fruits, medium tartness, smooth lactic acidity that is tasty but never aggressive, light sourness. Very comfortable full body with plenty of soft bubbles. Heavier body than more Berliner Weiss but remains very refreshing. I can’t say if it really tastes like pawpaw because I can’t identify the taste of pawpaw. But if this what pawpaw tastes like then it is the perfect plant to use when making beliner weisses because I thought everything was very harmonious in this beer. Lovely beer. Had quite a few glasses this beer, and yes, drinking so much beer may impair my judgment and my walking and speaking capacity, but drinking so much also makes me a kickass driver, I even won a demolition derby competition, and the fact that nobody else in the parking lot knew it was a competition doesn’t diminishes my accomplishment.

On tap at the Hill Farmstead vip night. Hazy golden pour with a nice frothy white head that dissipates rather fast. Huge tropical fruit and nectary fruit cocktail, finishing with tutti frutti and mandarin. Excellent lactic acid sourness. Medium body with beautiful acicidy and a dry slippery finish. Really enjoyed slurping this one.
