COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The paw paw fruit is something we take great pride in. The Native fruit of Ohio and one that flourishes here in Athens. A tropical fruit tree that grows in in a temperate climate and produces a one of a kind experience. Flavors of mango, banana, and a touch of melon.

In 2003, our good friend Kelly Sauber brewed the first paw paw beer utilizing locally harvested paw paw fruit from Integration Acres. We are now very proud to bring Paw Paw Wheat back and to you all!

Pours somewhat clear golden amber with a beige head. Aroma brings some malty base as this beer is a bit aged. Flavor brings tropical fruit and some what notes as well, but has dropped off for sure. The banana and melon are noticeable for sure.

375 ml bottle, poured into a nonic pint at ~45 degrees F. Appearance: Pours an almost opaquely-cloudy burnished copper-gold, where one can see the shadows of their fingers on the other side of the glass all as a single mass, rather than distinct fingers. Forms a finger or so of loose, large-bubble white head, which dissipates rather quickly and noisily. Smell: Ripe wheat wells out of the glass, bringing with it some hints of crackery malt, and faintly, the odd half-tropical, half-melon scent of a paw paw fruit. Taste: Thatís definitely a crackery wheat malt, indeed, with the essence of a wheat cracker flooding the mouth at first sip. Lurking somewhat behind and beneath that, the fruit flavors appear - itís definitely paw paw, but as that means little to those whoíve never had one, Iíll attempt to describe it a little better. Cantaloupe melon mingles with a slurry of tropical fruit - mango, guava, starfruit - with some discernible banana notes and a very slight tinge of the sort of tartness one gets from an orange without there actually being much citrus flavor along with it. The finish leaves an echo of that subtle fruit mix, and the crackery malt. TL;DR - Drinking this is not unlike eating a Wheat Thin with sparing traces of tropical fruit preserves, banana butter, and melon jelly spread on it. Mouthfeel: This is lightly carbonated, almost flat, and goes down smooth and slick. Overall: Not a bad beer, and it does showcase the paw paw. Also, any beer thatís over 9% but involves almost no taste of alcohol is brewed pretty well! However, for the price point, itís not one Iím going to repeat often.

bottle. Deep golden with small head. Wheaty and a bit sweet. Some light general fruitiness, almost fruit-punchy. Booze comes through plenty. Eh.

12 oz Bottle. Appearance is hazy, orange color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of mango and citrus, some floral and earthy tones. Taste is similar with the mango, banana fruitiness over a subtle earth tone or woody flavor. Not overly acidic. Palate is medium-bodied, light carbonation, and a semi-dry finish.

It poured a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma was of fruit and light booze. The taste was of vanilla, banana and some melons. Different.

Praise and thanks to phaleslu for this beer. Paw Paw Wheat is one of the few fruit-infused wheat ales Iíve enjoyed drinking. Iíll be honest, I had no idea what the hell a paw paw was before I consumed this ale. Now, Iím a fan. This ale pours yellow and heady. Smell is a bit unusual. Thereís booze, some fruit, floral notes, and even a woodsy/peaty aroma that reminded me of whiskey. Taste is remarkably tropical. Nectar, melon, honey, and sugary stone fruit. Mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat sticky. Apparently, Jackie Oís knows how to incorporate paw paw. This beer is weird in a great way.

Bottle. A- Banana, whiskey, peat, wheat, citrus, paw paw. A- Orange golden color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Banana, honey, subtle whiskey, melons, paw paw, bubble gum. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- Iím not sure what the hell paw paw is supposed to taste like but I guess itís like whatís in this beer. A unique taste that reminded me of banana and honey and citrus that turned into a more boozy peat finish as it warmed. I canít decide whether I liked this or not but Iím leaning towards yes.

375ml Chugged in 10 seconds. Taste was garbage fruit soaked in pepsicans butthole. Sweet, cloying. Well below average. Get a new fuckin fruit, Ohio.

Poured a hazy orange amber colour with a thin white head with poor retention and no lacing. Sweet aroma of fruit, wheat malt, and a hint of herbal spice. Flavor is rich of the tropical fruits, candied sugars, light wheat bitterness, and spiced yeast. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Crisp finish and alcohol is hidden well. Initial fruit flavor had caught me off guard and are definitely quite quirky, but is still an enjoyable journey.
