Draft at Jackie Os. Pours a dark amber brown color with a small fine beige head. The aroma is lightly smoked malt, mild peppery notes, some toasted malts, very light fruits. The flavor is much of the same; moderate smoke, decent peppery spice, light fruity notes, earthy.

Approximately 4 ounce sample at the Jackie Os Public House in Athens, Ohio. The pour is a murky brown copper with a light tan head. The aroma is roast and pepper spice, along with a toasted malt. The taste is a really soft roast, smoky, and a peppery blend. The smokiness and char lingers gently. Palate is medium bodied, soft natural carbonation, and the char dry mineral finish. Super fun and well made.

Draft sample. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate complex pepper and smoke aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy spice, smoke bittersweet flavor with a solid sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a interesting complex beer.

Received in a 4 oz. tasting glass. This is a mix of Kumbaya (smoked brown ale) and Starbrick (session brown ale) with black peppercorns added. 3.5 A: Nearly clear light brown. Came without a head. 3.0 S: Porcine smoke, but not a lot. Toasty with peppery spiciness and some caramel. 3.0 T: The taste is the same as the nose. Its not bad, but its low in power and complexity. 3.5 M: Light body. Good spritzy carbonation. Lighter than I like, but smooth. 3.0 D: Not bad, but not as good as Kumbaya by itself. Sample at Jackie Os during the bottle release on 8/18/12. Pours clear copper to brown with a thick tan head. Buttery and malty nose. Malty and bacony flavor with some butter character and slight heat on the finish.

Poured on draft at Jackie-Os. Appearance is a darker brown with a khaki colored head of foam. In the aroma I get a lot of smoke, bacon, barbecue, black peppercorns, and some chocolate. The peppercorns really do make this beer come across as fresh peppered bacon. Theres no other way of putting it. The taste is smoky, porky, bacony, and peppery with a more subtle chocolatey sweetness coming through in the finish. Im really liking the blended beers Jackie-Os is putting out recently.
