3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sheerbrewing (117) - Athens-Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 2, 2013
Growler, pours a very clear golden amber with thin white head. Aroma is very sweet Belgian, lots of banana phenols butterscotch light fruit, great nose. Flavor is rich, dry crisp mouthfeel, more Belgian yeast on the taste than aroma, nice bitterness with a sweet malt and the spicy yeast character. Overall this is a very drinkable saison, not extremely familiar with the style but I really enjoyed this brew.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (6044) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a hazy yellow-gold color with a medium white head that burns away steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of fruit, peppery yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of ripe fruit, yeast and earthy malt. The finish is fruity with a peppery yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

Taster on tap at Jackie-O’s 7th. Peach hazy color, very little head. Really nice orange and spice aromas. White pepper, hint of banana in the finish. Crisp lighter carbonation, light body. Unusual flavor for a saison, something odd about the finish, although this is very easy to drink, for sure.

Tap. Poured hazy golden color with an average fizzy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy yeast and citrus fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium complex citrus sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex drinkable beer.

Small pour at the Jackie O’s 7th Anniversary Extravaganza. Hazy gold pour with no head. Aroma of malt, herbs and some funk. Malty, peppery and funky flavor with a solid herbal finish.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 JStax (1671) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Poured on draft. Pours a hazy lighter copper with a white head of fluffy foam. The aroma has lots of citrus and herbal and fruity notes. Taste is sweet initially, then moves on to mild herbal notes. Nice saison, especially for their first go at a traditional one.
