Pygmy Twilight is a blend of three barrel aged sours. Each sour began as the same base beer. They were then put into three cabernet barrels from Kinkead Winery from Ohio. Each barrel was given a different Brett strain. after 5 months of Brett fermentation Pedio and Lacto were added. A combination of these three beers created Cuvee De Jackie which is in the data base. After a year of being in the barrels I then added fruit to each barrel. One got Apples, one got Grapes, and one got pears. This is a blend of all three designed for the boulder SourFest.

Growler at the 2010 March Metro Detroit tasting. Poured gold with a pine hue and a nice white head. Aroma had sour fruit notes with some yeasty funk and acid. Flavor builds in sourness throughout with some underlying funk.

Avery Sour Ale Fest. This one had an interesting smokiness to it. Not sure exactly what to make of it. There are some sour fruits that are quite pleasant, but overall its pretty bland. Seems like a waste of effort after reading the awesome description.

dark brown body, mostly clear; small tan head. nose of soured black pepper, acetobacter, licorice, soy sauce, rye. molasses is heavy up front, turning more towards sour and soggy/moldy rye bread. medium body up front, dissolves quickly across the back. finishes bland. very timid beer, and not flavorful at all.

Boulder Sourfest 10 - this was one of the first beers I ran to try, because I was excited to try something from this brewer - sadly, it was a huge disappointment - tasted like bile, rotten fruit, fruit pits, mold, blue cheese funk, some damp oak - couldnt really detect any wine character - hmmm...

growler from kan! thanks! pours hazy orangish-red with small bubbles for a head. nose has a nice cherry and pomegranate juice with mild sour vinegar thing happening. flavors are much of the same, mildly sour with tart cherry, vinegar, and brett. nice little sour beer here that is very drinkable.

1liter bottle from brad. thanks again man... pours a semi-transparent light copper brown with a thin film of wispy white head.... aroma of tart red fruit paired with a good degree of apple cider vinegar.... flavors carried through with very much of the same. sour mostly with a light acidic vinegar in the finish. some wood and coconut on the backend as well. light to medium carbonation. very pleasing and tasty all-around. would love to have this again.
