22oz bottle, shared. 2012 vintage, bottle 211/216. Hazy brown color. Thin creamy khaki head. Leaves lots of dots of lace. Really nice rum barrel, toasty caramel malt, brown sugar aroma in the nose. Nice creamy texture, bigger body, good burnt brown sugar. Some chocolate. Nice bitter sweet taste, light bite. Nice light boozy warmth in the finish, works well with the rum barrel aromas... Just a light bite. Very tasty barleywine to sip and savor.

Bomber to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks good; a dark, fairly opaque brown with beige lacing. Smells good too; sweet and boozy with a nice rum barrel presence and notes of vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer!

Bottle shared by Matt, poured an amber brown color with aromas of caramel, vanilla, wet wood, and some rum. Flavors were light dark fruits with some sweet malt followed by some soft rum. A great beer I got to try thanks to Matt.

Bottle @ a recent bottle share... Poured dark brown with a mild head. Rum was super evident here. Spicy and sweet with dark malt grains and sweetness. Caramel and vanilla with dark fruits, wood, and even cocoa. Complex and quite unique tasting.

22oz bottle, like a sweeter rum, tons of vanilla and that traditional cane type flavor from the rum, interesting portrayl of a barley wine, not hoppy at all very mellow and a sipper, not a big hit from the 11.4 either though.. smooth and sweet in a couple of words.

Pours a dark brown with no head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, vanilla and rum. Taste is malty, sweet caramel, chocolate and rum. Finishes with vanilla and oak. Nice full body, very smooth only slight booze which is crazy for a barrel aged barley wine this fresh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to JStax ! Pours a deep hazy copper brown color with a couple fingers of eggshell foam. The nose has alot of spicy rum notes, vanilla, warm sweet spice, brown sugar and some date fruit. The palate is direct and sweet with a nice complexity lying under the initial sweetness. The carbonation and the mouthfeel make this beer a shining example of a smooth pleasant barley wine as some many others get so viscous and sticky and this one has a bit of a refreshing edge to it. Nice soft notes that follow the nose nicely molasses, coconut, dates, milk chocolate and pecan pie.... really solid beer. Thanks again Jstax.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a dark brown color with some ruby around the edges, and a medium beige head that dissipates steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted nuts, caramel malt and coconut. Full-bodied with flavors of sweet malt, rum and chocolate-covered nuts. The finish is mildly boozy with a rum and chocolate aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.
