Oil of Aphrodite is an American double stout with an astounding texture. Multiple different chocolate and caramel malts from all over the world give this viscous brew a colossal character. Belgian candied syrup and locally harvested black walnuts build upon the fortified character, boldly standing up to its voluptuous body. After spending two months aging in stainless steel, the oil was placed into a rum barrel. The oil rested in the rum barrel for an additional 8 months, creating an amazing brew worthy of goddesses and gods alike. A beer passionately created to transcend your glass and provide a truly memorable experience.

Abv on my bottle reads 11.5, pours like used motor oil, very dark and thick, nice dark brown head. Aroma is very roasty, leather, chocolate and barrel hints. Taste starts sweet with chocolate and rum notes, goes a bit roasty and bitter and leaves a lingering taste of anise and walnuts. mouthfeel is very full. Definitely would pick this up again.

12.7 ounce bottle, label says 2014 vintage. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a quarter inch tan head that didnt stay around long. Theres a decent amount of lacing. The aroma is nice and sweet, the brew smells like rum, molasses, nuts, dark fruit, burnt wood and vanilla. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like rum, burnt/charred malt, walnuts/nuttiness, molasses, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, and some roastiness. Mouthfeel/body is medium, its a bit coating and smooth with moderate carbonation. I think this is a pretty good double stout, Jackie Os has done a great job with this one! Definitely worth picking up! $11.99 a bottle.

Bottle shared. Pours black with a thick brown head. Aroma of toffee, chocolate, fudge, vanilla, rum and woody barrel notes, slight fruity qualities. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a fairly thick oily mouthfeel.

Nice sweet aroma. Smells like a good bottle of rum. Tastes sort of like Bacardi though. seemed to have that sourish taste Bacardi has. Didnt really care for that since Im not a big Bacardi fan. Drank too much 151 back in the day.

Bottle. The pour is black. The aroma has rum coming through big time, sweetness. The taste has rum coming through, but the stout is lacking. Decent, but could be better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Thanks, Brandon. Dark brown, nearing black with a slowly forming tan skin that barely covers the top. The nose lends a semisweet & semi-tropical aroma from the rum. Quite booze-forward, but not necessarily "hot". Underlying plum, raisin, prune, molasses, & generic dark malts. Flavor has a stronger malt base with a mouthful of molasses coated dark fruit up front; drizzled over dates & raisins, then rolled in some brown sugar. Mid-palate to finish has a larger rum character. Kind of sweet & tropical again, definitely rum, but no real heat coming from it. Just a lot of rum flavor. A touch of wood & very mild roasted malt in the finish, lingering alongside the rum. I dont love rum but this was pretty tasty.

2013 bomber. Damn good, but disappointing. Is that possible? Too lofty of expectations. The pour is an opaque black with a dark tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and oak with some rum. Flavors include rum, oak, walnuts, alcohol and roasted malts. Finishes dry and a little hot. A big stout!

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a small head that fades to a very thin ring. Aroma is very rich and sugary. Molasses, vanilla, raspberry jam, chocolate syrup, rum, and wood. Taste moderately sweet with an odd, dry tartness. Cocoa, dried fruit, molasses, nuts. Tons of wood, tart fruit and rum in the finish. Something odd about the taste I cant describe. Incredibly dry with a funky tart fruit taste. Rough mouthfeel. Overall, loved the aroma but taste was a bit odd.
