Oil of Aphrodite is an American double stout with an astounding texture. Multiple different chocolate and caramel malts from all over the world give this viscous brew a colossal character. Belgian candied syrup and locally harvested black walnuts build upon the fortified character, boldly standing up to its voluptuous body. After spending two months aging in stainless steel, the oil was placed into a rum barrel. The oil rested in the rum barrel for an additional 8 months, creating an amazing brew worthy of goddesses and gods alike. A beer passionately created to transcend your glass and provide a truly memorable experience.

Bomber shared by Travlr at the DC Summer Saison & Sour Tasting, 7/12/14. Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, nicely balanced rum, a faint hint of tart fruit. The taste is raisin, rum, wood, roasted malts, coffee. Medium bodied, slightly boozy. Nice beer.

Bottle. Thanks to Chris, I think. Light rum and cocoa with some spiciness. Taste is lightly tart with a weird nuttiness to it. Seems like there is something weird going on with this and I cant tell if its the rum or if it got funked somehow. Ok, but I would keep cold and drink fast if you have this.

A good amount of rum barrel in this. Roast, light caramel, booze. Medium bitter finish. Some sweetness. Not a huge amount of dark chocolate in here but some. Some nuts. Bottle thanks to someone at Travlrs place.

Bottle thanks to Sean! Shared at the Homer "welcome to California" tasting. Pours dark black, small brown head, decent lacing. Aroma is rummy, raisins, dark roasted malts, chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, anise, rum and chocolate malts. Lightish body. Decent for sure, but not really coming together for me.

Interesting aroma. Sweet dessert feel but non distinct. But the taste is thin, watery, somewhat astringent. Rum and roast are there as well but... Oof, big letdown.
