COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oil of Aphrodite is an American double stout with an astounding texture. Multiple different chocolate and caramel malts from all over the world give this viscous brew a colossal character. Belgian candied syrup and locally harvested black walnuts build upon the fortified character, boldly standing up to its voluptuous body. After spending two months aging in stainless steel, the oil was placed into a rum barrel. The oil rested in the rum barrel for an additional 8 months, creating an amazing brew worthy of goddesses and gods alike. A beer passionately created to transcend your glass and provide a truly memorable experience.

Sampled at Kennys. Thanks Ben. Black with some tan foam. A very nicenose of spices, dark fruit, cinnamon, and rum. The flavor almost keeps up with the aroma. More malts and wood. Some soy. This one has a lot to offer.

Bottle 115/216. Black pour with medium tan head. Nose was sweet cola syrup, toffee, rum, cocoa and almost could smell oxidation on the nose. Wierd. No oxidation in the taste, though.. Taste is cola, nice rum barrel incorporation. Wasn’t overwhelming, but light and vibrant. Also picked up toffee, cocoa, and marshmellow. I dig it, but perhaps a bit thinner than I thought and not the best nose.

Thanks to Roman for sharing! Pours a near opaque black with tan head. Huge nose, rich dark malt, licorice and molasses. Taste big...nutty, super rich malt, rum, molasses and ends with a bit of alcohol burn, char and dryness. Full body, thick and chewy.

22oz bottle, #62/206 from the 2011 batch, courtesy of my good buddy deftim13. thanks so much, Tim! pours rich and oily, probably the densest Jackie O’s stout i’ve seen, with a razor thin, rusty brown head that leaves oily sheets of lace on the glass. aroma is simply wonderful with heavy notes of burnt brown sugar, toasted malts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and boozy rum backed by prunes, dark chocolate, candied walnuts, and a touch of vanilla icing. flavor is absolutely delicious as well with loads of dark chocolate, iced coffee, black malts, and sweet toffee backed by dense, dark rum, spice cake, chocolate trail mix bars, and rich vanilla. palate is full bodied with light carbonation and a boozy, warming finish of nutty rum cake. overall, a great imperial stout and one of the best i’ve had from these guys.

Bottle thanks to Jstax ! Pours a deep viscous burnt umber black color with a finger of khaki foam. On the nose its got some warm spicy rum, vanilla, chocolate and a trace of walnuts. The palate is much of the same with lots of boozy rum notes mingling with rich chocolate, molasses and rustic nuttiness. Nice beer but a little to much rum soaked notes...

22oz bottle from the Dec. 2012 release, shared with Dan. Black color. Darker brown minimal head. Some dots of lace. Lightly spicy from the rum barrel, little wood notes in the nose. Good big bitter dark chocolate. Roasty malt, bitter coffee. Walnut easy to see, love that. Nice sweet taste, light bite. Alcohol is kind of noticeable if you’re looking for it, but it’s very well-blended. Works great with the flavor.. Just a light warmth in the finish. Freakin’ awesome chewy texture to it. Little dark fruit, very little. Very good stuff. Looking for criticisms... Maybe slightly on the sweet side. That’s it. Super great rum nutty stouty chewy texture to the aftertaste. Awesome.

22oz bomber. Pitch black pour with a non existent head. Nose of roast, nuts, and booze. Taste is similar with a slight sourness that doesn't really belong. Nice alcohol warmth. Mouthfeel not that enjoyable. Oily and rather dead. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle pours an oily opaque black with one ring of white head. Nose of cake icing, caramel, vanilla beans, toast, cola. Flavor is sweet, roasted malts, caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla, cola, light licorice. Full, roasty, slightly hot finish. Well balanced.
