4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Shared at the Nashville Beer Summit, bottle #14. Sweet sugary rum/molasses aroma. Very strong and classy. Color is pitch black, very think. Flavor is glorious, very warming, the sweet vanilla rum is very noticeable, almost like the stout is was blended with it, but the consistency stayed thick as it was. Damn good.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draft samples at the release (bottle since). Pours a very dark brown/black color with a medium creamy tan head. The aroma is decadent rum covered dark chocolate, vanilla, and roasted black walnuts. The flavor expands upon the nose big rum dipped chocolate, nuts, and dark caramel with dark fruits and vanilla. Full bodied and creamy smooth. This was one of my favorite beers of 2010 and I wish I had more to enjoy.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Pours dark like old engine oil with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is of chocolate and rum. Taste is more milk chocolate than dark with rum vanilla and a slight roasted malt. A very tasty beer. Palate is perfect for this style with just right amount of carbonation and viscosity. Overall, excellent. Get some and try it yourself you will not be disappointed. Cheers!

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a bottle into a snifter deepest brown black with minimal head.
Aroma is rum chocolate. Sweet comes to mind as well as booze.
Flavor is warm to the mouth with rum then sweet chocolate. Incredible.
A truly beautiful brew to savor.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nearly black. Brown head. Aroma and flavor are almost exaclty like dark chocolate candies filled with rum. Some nice vanilla peeks in...delicious!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a viscous black with a thin light tan head. Nose is hugely rum forward with some light nuttiness and roast peaking through. Flavor is just terrific. Chocolate and roasted malt up front and a hugely nutty and caramelly finish with some hints of fruitiness from the rum. Slightly tangy, no noticable alcohol this is just fantastic. A great improvement upon an already terrific beer.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Had this at the August 27th bottle release. A couple 4 oz pours from tasting snifters.
4.5 A: Black. Came with nearly no head, but the light brown head that was there stuck around a while and left some lacing.
5.0 S: Wow! The regular is already wonderful, but now its perfect. Rich chocolate, caramel, decent general maltiness, black walnut nuttiness, and candi sugar. The rum and barrel adds plenty of vanilla, some oak, and of course some sweet rum.
4.5 T: The taste is similar to the smell. Chocolate, caramel, walnut nuttiness, moderate toastiness, soft roastiness. The rum and vanilla are quite strong in the taste and indeed probably a bit stronger than in the nose.
4.5 M: Heavy body, but on the lighter end of the spectrum. A decent bit thicker than the regular. Great creaminess and super smooth.
4.5 D: Great base beer. Great treatment. I could drink Oil all day.
Serving type: on-tap

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bottle, #62/206 from the 2011 batch, courtesy of my good buddy deftim13. thanks so much, Tim! pours rich and oily, probably the densest Jackie O’s stout i’ve seen, with a razor thin, rusty brown head that leaves oily sheets of lace on the glass. aroma is simply wonderful with heavy notes of burnt brown sugar, toasted malts, cinnamon, nutmeg, and boozy rum backed by prunes, dark chocolate, candied walnuts, and a touch of vanilla icing. flavor is absolutely delicious as well with loads of dark chocolate, iced coffee, black malts, and sweet toffee backed by dense, dark rum, spice cake, chocolate trail mix bars, and rich vanilla. palate is full bodied with light carbonation and a boozy, warming finish of nutty rum cake. overall, a great imperial stout and one of the best i’ve had from these guys.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bomber. Tasted side by side with the regular version of Oil of Afro (thanks Alex). Both very nice. Flavorful rum barrel aroma with sweet chocolates and almonds throughout. Tastes of big roasty malts blended with caramel candies and brown sugar soaked in rum. Some rich woody tones and dark fruit sweetness on the palate. Lightly carbed body with a smooth rum finish. Very easy drinking, nearly dangerous for the ABVs. Delish.....

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, beige head. Pretty good retention. The nose offers lots of dark, aged rum and boatloads of chocolate accompanied by walnut shell, a splash of brandy and a modest hint of molasses. A faint herbal component is also present. Full-bodied, extremely thick and sticky with supple carbonation. The flavor imparts aged dark rum sweetness complemented by rich mocha, vanilla, walnut meat and caramel. Lengthy, luscious, semi sweet finish. Thanks go out to darkguardian for sharing this delicious beer. World class all the way!
