American white wheat is paired with Belgian crystal malts crafting full-bodied caramel wheat. 168 pounds of tart cherry puree impart continuous subtle cherry notes. Malt really plays the staring role in this beer with cherries adding a beautiful burgundy color and landing some soft fruity jabs on the palate.

Hops: Liberty, Sazz

Character Builder: Natural Tart Cherry Puree

Poured from a Growler. I probably let this one set too long so a rerate will be needed. Appearance is a reddish brown with no head at all. Aroma is like sour cherries. Taste is like unripe cherries. Dry and tart. Its getting better as it warms.

Sample at the brewpub. Clearish amber pour with a thin head. Malty aroma with some sour cherry influence. Malt flavor with tart cherries and a wheaty finish.

Dogbrick (8664) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Tart cherry aroma with notes of malt. Light body with flavors of sour cherries, wheat and pale malt. The finish is clean and fruity with a tart cherry aftertaste. Decent all around.

Maddog (401) - Kettering, Ohio, USA - AUG 5, 2009
Had on draft at the brewery. Faint, tart cherry. Not much in the way of any favorable wheat characteristics. This beer is refreshing and quaffable, just not a great beer.

Pours ruby red with a slight offwhtie head. Aromas of light cherry and some straw. Flavor si cherry, yeast and lots of bready notes. Palate leaned towards the acidic side. Drinkable but nothing special.
