Draft sample. Poured dark brown color with an average brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy chocolate smoke sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet toasted smoked flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex standout beer

Poured on draft. Dark brown to black appearance with a brown, khaki colored head of foam. Aroma is loaded with smoky, barbecue, bacon, chocolate, caramel, and sausage. Had this with a hearty, hefty breakfast sandwich, and it was fantastic. Taste is definitely robustly umami, savory, smoky. No real bitterness or sweetness aside from the faint notes of chocolate and caramel. Really enjoyed this beer.

Rich dark brown color with a tan foam ring. Nice smoky aroma. Smoke is also a huge flavor presence with dark complexity and a bitter hop balance on the back end. Good smoke flavor and everybody else is hating on this but I’m enjoying this beer.

On tap at Jackie O’s Memorial Day weekend. Served in a pint glass. Pours very dark brown with a nice off-white head. The nose begins with some nice roast as well as some dark chocolate and a bit of coffee. Very nice light smoke character in the background. Really nice porter with a really nice not-over-the-top smoke addition. Body is medium and a bit chewy. Great porter from Brad and crew.

2 consecutive pints enjoyed while hanging out with friends, on tap at Jackie-Os. Opaque brown color. Good thin khaki head. Good lace. Light smokey malt aroma. Some chocolate, good roastiness. Lighter smokey sweet taste, light bitter. Light carbonation, good crisp texture. Smokey sweet aftertaste, mildly oily. Bigger body (ABV was listed at 6%). Gotta love smoked porters, but I don’t know... I wouldn’t mind a higher smoke to porter ratio. It’s satisfyingly hearty, though.

Nip bottle sent by Josh...thanks man! Pours a coffee brown with a couple of bubbles scattered around the edge of my glass. Right away, the smoked malt hits you with some sweet chocolate notes and hints of raisins. Body is thin and not much in the way of carbonation. Really tart with faint roasted malt and some parfume like characteristics. The nose was decent, then...

Sample during Jackie O’s 4th Anniversary Extravaganza. Taste of campfire, toast, nuts, and malts. Not a fan of the smokies.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Growler from StFun, thanks Josh! Pours a deep brown/black color with some ruby edges and a 3/4 inch, fluffy tan head that receded to a thin layer. Aroma of light smoke, light roasted coffee, chocolate, a light meatiness, and some dry charred wood. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some light hints of smoke transitions into a moderate chocolate sweetness that eventually gives way to a lightly meaty, woody finish with some light sweet undertones. Low carbonation and relatively thin mouth feel. Overall, it has some decent characteristics, but almost all of those come from the smoked malt rather than the porter. The balance is decent, but the base porter seems rather weak and bland.
