3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at a bottle release. This reminded me of drinking Craftsman Honesty at Toronado SD. Not that it helps you learn about this beer but thatís what I wanted to remember about it.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a small off white head. The aroma has a light funk, moderate amounts of tart raspberries, vinous notes from the cab barrel, a splash of vanilla and hints of the roast from the base beer. The flavor has the slightest trace of roasted malts, ample raspberries, vinous cab notes, some funk. I thought the finish was on the soft side. Interesting beer.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
The pour is dark brown in color, sort of unassuming appearance-wise. First aroma I pick up is metal. Thereís a decent amount of vinegar and maybe a little bit of puke. The raspberry comes through, minimal funk/earth notes. The flavor has a fair amount of sweet, berry fruit character. A light straw and grass funk with some sweet malt. Quite a bit of vinegar (mostly red-wine vinegar) and a weird roast note which gives it a bit of bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
pour is dark brown, red hues, dark tan ring. The nose is sweet, cherries, light vinous note and a hint of dry wood. There is a touch of chocolaty malt body in there as well. Taste is a touch sweeter and offers more dry oak. The finish is a touch short and itís a bit sweet. The Brett has added a soft sourness to the cherry flavor and the malt lies very faintly in the back with a touch of a roasted note. The body is light, very syrupy, decent carbonation, kind of wet.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown pour with red tint and a medium tan head. Aroma of red wine and brett with tart berry notes. Flavor is raspberry jam with red wine before a tart and bitter brett finish. A little bit of porter roastiness comes through as it warms.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Received in a 4 oz. taster glass.
3.5 A: Dark brown color. Came without a head.
3.5 S: Brett, roasty porter, light raspberry. Super vinous as the cabernet barrels really come through.
3.0 T: Super vinous and really busy. The porter adds an unwanted roastiness to the raspberry fruit tartness that is trying to come out. Brett funk.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation that is lightly spritzy. Touch of creaminess.
3.0 D: Itís not bad, but Iím not a huge fan of this. Too many flavors that donít complement each other.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured on draft. Appearance is a dark, purple-ish black. A small tan head of foam with decent retention forms as I swirl. Aroma is dark fruits, bretty earthy funkiness, raspberries, and funky wine-ish note. Taste is sour, but not overly sour. Just a nice funkiness. I get an airy bread note in the finish. This an all around bad ass beer. Would love to have another chance to try this.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Jackie-Os, served in a goblet. One of the brewers told me this was basically Black Betty, but aged in fresh Cabernet barrels. Iíve never tried Black Betty, but this stuff was delicious. Nice, deep dark red color, brown head leaving some lace. Very light carbonation, smooth texture. Easy to drink -- a wine-like texture for sure, but less heavy. Very good. Awesome sweet taste. Awesome wine-like grape aroma. The raspberry and vanilla are subtle but awesome. Taylor tasted some from my glass, appropriately dubbed it "bwine".
